so i baked this cake for my mom….and it came out just OK. i had to make two different icings because the first icing i made, i failed miserably!
so i’m not great with meringue…yet. but the frosting on the cake now is adequate… it was made with crisco (ewww) but tastes better than one made with butter. i added crumbled cookies on top because the look of the icing wasn’t great.

p.s. the cake recipe is devil’s food cake from martha stewart’s baking handbook and the frosting i found online not sure where…. i tried to make dorie greenspan’s meringue frosting but as i said earlier- i failed MISERABLY. i will try again.. and i completely copied the cover of dorie’s new baking book by putting the chocolate bits on top of my cake!
