good morning everyone!
my mom bunny is still in the hospital. she is in a "step down" room which means she is out of the recovery room but still needs more monitoring than someone who is in a regular room. bunny’s oxygen levels have been a little off which we are told is normal for someone post op. she will be fine. bunny is in a lot of pain but that is expected too and ultimately her pain will dissipate.
as i said on the show, my mom’s recovery will be a long and arduous one but we are confident she will make a full recovery and be stronger and more mobile than she was before the surgery.
thank you again for being interested and caring about my mom… i noticed on the bulletin board people were asking why i asked for cards, gifts (was kidding about the gifts), well wishes etc from strangers for my mom- well, my mom does like all of it. it helps her through the pain and makes her feel special knowing that even people who don’t actually "know" her are thinking about her and wishing her a speedy recovery.
soon i will be off to the hospital- i feel like i’ve been burning the candle at both ends.. still need to buy chanukah gifts, christmas gifts, etc… let me know if you can think of some great kids gifts- our tradition is 8 gifts, 1 per night of chanukah…
at least i have lunch with rosie wednesday to look forward to (omg!).

I am so sorry that your mom is still in such pain. I have had 2 anterior cervical fusion surgeries where they remove the disc, replace disc with cadavar bone, and fuse the vertebra. Prior to both surgeries, I was in excruciating pain (impinged/compressed nerves), YET, after each surgery, I woke up pain free, and continue to be free of the nerve pain. Both surgeries were performed as an outpatient, and I only used my pain meds intitally after surgery (1-2 days) to stay ahead of any potential pain. I pray that your mom finds relief soon. Blessings and Peace… Lisa

I had a cervical disc fusion too. It does take a while to recover but once it is healed I’m confident she will just be so glad she did it. Hang in there Bunny! You will be better soon.
I thought I had written a message to Bunny before but it didn’t get posted for some reason. As someone who has been through this, you and your family is in my thoughts and I do wish you the best!

Tell your mother she’s in my prayers. I hope they are able to properly manager her pain. I had a kidney transplant a couple years ago, and just having family and friends up to visit me at the hospital really helps lift your spirts, and helps time pass.
Even though I don’t personally know you and your mother, I do feel a closeness towards you due to your radio show, which thanks to my S50, I record each night on the replay so I can listen at work.
Jennifer, keep up the good work, and give mommy a big hug. She’s wished well in Michigan!!
sincerely,
Kim

Hi Jennifer, I had a disc problem that drove me insane with rolling-on-the-ground pain which eventually repaired itself. I wish your mum all the very best in her recovery. With the love and support she’s receiving since her surgery, I have no doubt that all will be well soon. BTW, I love her calls into the show. Bunny is a hoot! She reminds me of a Long Island Gracie Allan!Take care!!
