hi everyone,
this thursday i am going to fly to
i think part of why i hate to travel, aside from my unbelievable fear of flying (which i will be trying to conquer in the next few days thanks to my friend who recommended i check out the SOAR program on fearofflying.com ), is because i cannot deal with packing and the change in my routine.
a. i am a crappy organizer when under pressure..i get so nervous that i just start to sweat and feel like i’m going to vomit or poop (ewwww… i know).
b. once i decide what i want to bring i worry that whatever i bring will get lost while i am away and then i’ll be upset when i get home and don’t have what i need.
i also hate to travel because i like being in my own home and feel like i don’t spend enough time at home as is.
i think the perfect vacation would be one at home, cozy with my kids and keithy…. sitting by the fire, watching movies and playing board games.
happy chanukah!
talk to you tomorrow at 5pm est.

You would be AWFUL to travel with..why put yourself through all that hell? Just stay home.
Joyce says
Thanks for telling us your plans. You are always happy to be with your kids and husband at home. That is always nice. Maybe you could start packing early and have everything done–then maybe you wouldn’t be so pressured. That must be terrible to feel so nervous.
Please tell us more about your vacation.

Jennifer, You make your vacation what it is. Your Brother Brian choose to not go, you can chose to not go, and have your “perfect” vacation. Believe me, holidays are stressful as it is and then to add travel to the mix, OY!
dperk251@yahoo.com says
actually jennifer, i could have writtenthat very blog..i detest all of the schtush involved with travel..that’s why i live where i would like to visit..i live in boca, kids all born and reared here, oldest 27..anyway happiest of chanukah wishes to you cutie,i won’t say stop stressing cuz i’d be kookoo by now too

Unreal! Just stay home. Now you are sounding like a whiner! Some folks don’t get the opportunity to go anywhere. You would be AWFUL to travel with, I agree with Jamie.

I think there’s a possibility we’re related. I could have written that blog.
So that being said, before you know it you’ll be home in front of that fire, watching a movie, playing board games and remembering back what a great time you had in Florida. I promise!!!!

Don’t worry… I’m a terrible traveler too. The BEST part of going out-of-town? The cab ride home! 😉
Nancy says
Jennifer, go, enjoy..you’ll have a good time. Me, I’m stuck up here in New Hampshire where I can’t find a store with latke mix, horrids!
Make sure Alexis is feeling better before you leave, someone needs to get her spirits up while we all plug away at the stupid holidays!
chris says
you’re loaded, for christ’s sake, hire someone to pack. buy nice but who gives a shit if i lose it because it’s outlet clothing so if you lose it, who cares. bring a nanny or significant relative with you to babysit and get stinking drunk on the trip. (that and remember we live in a hot terrorist spot so flying should be no big deal).
toodles.
Jamie says
‘STUPID holidays’?? you need to be alone too…
Toni Russo says
you did a fantastic show on friday, good for you…
Linda says
Welcome to sunny Florida! It’s been about 80, but temp dropping. (to 70 🙂
This is how I travel: one black jeans, one blue, 1 good pair black pants. t-shirts in shades of grey + a couple black. Then, a few overshirts in festive colors (green, red). Long ago, stopped packing for ten. Just rotate the t-shirts…nobody notices, especially if it’s family.

Loved the show Friday! Missed Alexis, but it was a great mix of people, it flowed and it was interesting! Loved it! As for your travel plans, why would anyone come to Florida? It’s been sooo humid here, it’s even humid inside! (Well, I’m south of where you are going!) I wish we could trade! I’d love to be back up in New York! Just for a visit!
Your trip will be great! You’ll be with your family, that’s all you can ask for! Is it a private plane? Maybe you can try and join the mile high club (but not if it’s not a private plane, they are busting people left and right now! That would be horrible! Haha!
Enjoy!

Not to be a bitch, but in my opinion, you need drugs. Good Luck Jen. I am not afraid of flying and love traveling so, I’m sorry I can’t relate.
Miss you guys! My damn radio is broken.
🙁 Have a great show today.
Lauren says
Jennifer-I just wanted you to know that I am also a fearful flyer and have purchased the online version of the video at fearofflying.com and it’s been really helpful. I now keep it on my desktop and watch it whenever I fly.
Hope it works for you too!
Decembergal says
I am sorry you have this fear of flying which is a sad because you can’t enjoy vacation. I do not have any advice I love to fly. I would love to go to Florida this time of year to get away from the holiday madness. Just enjoy time with your family.

Jennifer, thanks so much for being ‘real’. It is refreshing! I can completely relate to your pensiveness and anxieties over traveling. Nice to know that I am not alone with that trepidation. However, as a prior post mentioned, I love all the memories when I return home, but while traveling I am remain tense. And flying? I am having a glass of wine at the airport prior to departure sometimes as early as noon!

Just a note—always reading your blogs, and listen to the show everyday…Just can’t call in, because I listen a day behind…I tape the replays….Jennifer, you’re just a hoot!

Traveling with children is very hard- you will like it better when they are much older- they get all out of whack without the ususal schedule- and the pressure falls on…you guessed it…mom.
good luck- deep breaths- relax as much as possible. When I am really freaked out (in the air), I try to do arithmetic our count backward by 7’s to take my mind off my anxiety.

Hi Jennifer,
I have heard Dr. Joy Brown (radio psychologist on terrestrial radio) mention an over the counter product Rescue Remedy that will ease your nervousness. She says she uses the product when flying. See the link for more info https://www.bachflower.com/rescue_remedy.htm
I have seen the product on the shelves of local drug stores in NJ. It is worth a try????? I have never used the product, but from what I have read, it may help.
Have a terrific sae trip.
Thanks for all of the laughs, keep up the good work, I love the show!!
