hi everyone!
happy easter!!!!!
and happy passover!!!!! (although it’s almost over)
it’s sunday and i am feeling so unfabulous.
i made matzo brei this morning which is a passover tradition in our house. it is way fattening and only ok once a year…or a couple times a year during passover.
here is how it is made…..
enough for about 6 ppl
1 box of matzo (salted is better i think but unsalted will do)
6 eggs (my family uses about 1 egg/ 2 boards of matzo- other people like it more "eggy" and use 1 egg/ 1 board of matzo)
boiling water for soaking
butter for the pan
salt and pepper if you want it savory
powdered sugar if you want it sweet
break all the matzo boards into medium size pieces (each piece should be a little bigger than bite size).
place matzo in a colander…..pour super hot boiling water over the broken matzo and let it soak for a bit- until the matzo gets soft but not mushy.
beat the eggs.
place the softened matzo into a big bowl and pour the beaten eggs over the matzo. combine the matzo and eggs.
melt the butter in a large fry pan.
fry the egg/matzo mixtures in batches until eggs are cooked through (keep the matzo brei a bit wet it shouldn’t dry out all the way).
add salt and pepper as needed…or if you want to eat it sweet (i like it salty, keithy and my kids like it sweet) then add confectioners sugar.
it is yummy both ways.
xoxo

My mouth is watering just reading your matzoh brei recipe. I’ve only cooked it once this Passover. I think I’d better try it again before the end of the holiday! I like it with a little salt, and a scoop of cottage cheese on the side. I’m not sure why.
Can’t wait to see you girls on the Martha Show this week! I’m sure you’ll be just fine!

You gals seemed to be on good manners when the tv show was taping you gals in the radio studio I remember you watched your ummmm language which is a GOOD Thing. I am a huge Martha fan and am going to travel to NYC for the first time to see her show in the fall, I am like you I suffer from Genralized Anxiety Disorder but take no meds I exercise, use no sugar, salt, don’t drink coffee alochol or no drugs. Boring but it cuts down the anxiety level big time. I think you gals will come across fine and maybe pick up some more fans for your radio show which is after all why Martha is promoting you right? It will be fun and you sound happy and excited about it. I watch Martha every day and listen to 112 all the time, love both You go gal! Enjoy the limelight and bash in the attention.

Jennifer,
Don”t feel compelled to write food blogs if that’s not your thing. I know everyone raves over A’s food blogs, but that’s becuase she is an f-ing expert and cooking/baking is in her blood. I loved your blog that was about your aspiration to become a voice-over expert. It was very authentic. I don’t care for your food ones becuase I don’t believe that food is your passion. You seem to be writing them becasue you think that’s what we want to read. Let us know what drives you. A pissed off note to your ex-housekeeper is a much better blog than a photo of your pumpkin puree.

I just saw you for the first time on Martha. I usually don’t watch her and didn’t even know about you and Alexis. Anyway, my impression is this: You would be so much more confident if you weren’t friends with Alexis. She doesn’t let you feel good about yourself for a second. She has a comment about everything in the name of friendship. She is a classic “TOXIC FRIEND”! Get away. Don’t let her put you down so much. Did you ever do anything right in her eyes?

It’s nice to hear the “real people talk” on your show…
I feel like I know you both. Have fun!

Caught the two of you on Martha’s show. Love you. What a connection you have! I’ve always loved witty banter and quick wit. You gals have it in spades. I’ll check in on your website to keep track of what’s going on. Wish I could get your radio show.
I think Frannie misses the whole point of your friendship. You just roll with it and Alexis keeps punching away. I repeat…Love you.
