hi everyone!
maybe we will discuss this on the show today as well but i’m wondering if, in fact, like one of our very bright listeners once claimed on the air, i am a voyeur.
i don’t want to watch people have sex but i do like to watch people. i find people watching is so much fun. people watching at a restaurant is more fun than the meal itself! well, usually.
is it inappropriate while being the passenger in a car to look at the other people driving in different cars? i actually look, stare….but then if someone looks back at me i look away…hmmmm. maybe i should keep staring?! i mean people do the wackiest crap in their cars thinking no one can see!
is it human nature to look at everyone? to watch eachother? or am i just weird? (wait…don’t answer that…just kidding…answer away!)
3:35pm blog update…i am NOT a voyeur apparently because the definition of a voyeur is "a viewer who enjoys seeing the sex acts or sex organs of others…or a peepingTom".
but i am still wondering if it’s odd i like to "look" and "watch" people.

Jen in ATL says
I think you should smile at the people in the other cars when they look at you.
Matt the trucker says
Jenny, I too am a voyeur. I’m a trucker. Guess what I do when I’m driving my rig? I look down into the passing car. Hopefully it’ll be a woman sitting unsuspecting. Thank you Summer! Shorts and short shorts. Legs, legs, legs hmmmm sometimes panties, hmmm sometimes jackpot! Yeah I know its wrong. I didn’t say I was perfect. Anyway its something to keep alert or so I tell myself, lol. Anyway I think a lot of these women are exhibitionist. Sitting there with their left foot against the dash and door jam, I mean come on…
voice from europe says
not weird at all!! unless i am weird too 😉 I usually go and watch people in the pub. if you don’t take life to serious, this “strange” world becomes a funny place 🙂 I believe it is a natural thing otherwise people wouldn’t study psychology or watch reality shows(altough i don’t really like them-exept temptation island, so bad it becomes good)

My sister is notorious for staring at people in their cars. Whenever we are in the car together and I notice that she’s staring at someone…I purposely roll down her window (Of course she’s too busy staring that she doesn’t notice that I’m doing it)…then she’s mortified that the other person thinks that she rolled down her window to speak or something.
Laura C says
Not wrong at all to observe other people.
My husband gets annoyed when I’m looking all around in a restaurant. I can’t help it, people are fascinating.
I love to see how people chew, use utensils, talk on cell phones, let their kids mis-behave. So interesting.

i do like watching people but not when the are driving in their cars for fear they may pick their nose. not good!
Deanna S says
I would think it would be weird not to be interested in what other people are doing. Jen – it’s normal. Yes people sure do weird things in their cars. Matt has the best view. I rented a truck once to move furniture and you sure can see everything. What I can’t believe is when they pick their noses and think no one else can see them. Ewww gross!!!!

I like to people watch when I am at a restaurant or at a Mall. Even out my window at home, I watch what is going on in the neighborhood. It is pretty amusing. I once witnessed a lady back out of a driveway, while talking on her cell, hit a parked car. And I knew before she hit it that she was going to hit it. Talk about stupid.
Erica from Ohio says
It’s normal to like to people-watch. Everyone does it. It’s one of my favorite past times. Just don’t stare…that’s rude. If they look back, look away!! 😛
The REAL Karenska says
I definitely like to watch… hehehehe
Ariel says
I like to look into people’s houses! Not in a creepy peeping tom way, but I like to walk around and see what’s going on, are they walking around, what color is their living room, getting dinner ready? For that reason, I leave the curtain on our front door open until we go to bed! Incase anyone wants to see our house too! It was the easiest in NY! No one uses curtains, I LOVE IT!
WI Girl says
Once driving in Milwaukee, I saw a beautiful boy really “enjoying” himself. At first I was disgusted and then couldn’t take my eyes away. Ever since then, I’m always aware of the people driving around me.
Hmmm says
You are a people watcher, not a voyeur -different thing altogether. Unless, of course, you secretly want to WATCH Emily and Don doing ‘the deed’ rather than just HEAR about it. he,he. p.s. Loved the Hmmm reference!
designer*emilie says
Yes, Hmmm is correct-people watcher. Both my father & fiancee are people watchers…it’s funny the faces they make while watching people. The things people do…hilarious!
little jo says
I always look at the ladies in their cars, hoping maybe one might look back, wishful thinking
Caroline says
I like to look in the windows of peoples homes at night when the lights are on and you can see in real good as you are driving by – not so much to see the people but just to see what the inside of the house looks like
Megan says
If being a voyeur is wrong, then I don’t want to be right!
leo says
I’m a voyeur.
Jules says
There’s nothing wrong with watching people. It’s human nature!!
