hi everyone!
ok, so liz posted a comment in the blog post prior (see below) asking do i just cook and bake….no, ofcourse not.
i am NOT angry with the question- so please don’t misunderstand this post as being anything but informative.
i go to the gym (not nearly often enough!) i could take pictures while i am at the gym, but those would not be very attractive pictures.
today i went to have blood taken for a physical (i’m turning 38 february 7th so i have booked all my annual dr.’s appts around now) i guess i could have taken pictures at the dr.’s office but again, i am not looking too swell first thing in the am and do you really want to see my blood?!
i went for a catscan angiogram last week- do you want me to post pictures of my heart? i did have the dr. send them to me so that i could show them if i felt compelled to do so.
i hang out with my kids- go to friends’ houses, spend time with friends/family. and i will put up pictures of other adults in my life when/if that person is comfortable with my doing so.
just because i live my life on the air doesn’t mean everyone around me is happy doing that as well.
i take my daughter (7 years old) to gymnastics when my husband takes my son (9 years old) to basketball. do various other stuff with my kids…take them to playdates, host sleepovers etc.
and i go to work where i do the radio show…
if you’ve looked at blogs past you can see i videoblog plenty.
i don’t go to museums often- have taken my kids of course to see dinosaurs at museum of natural history…i don’t go to too many musicals on broadway- doesn’t fit into my schedule since our show ends at 7 each night and i prefer to go home to my husband and kids.
sometimes we go to restaurants- my husband and me…even an occasional movie.
i clean out my closet- pay bills- relax- run around- go to the grocery store- do annoying errands like everyone else.
i read the paper/internet and try to stay current with what’s going on in the world…or at least in the usa. and the internet is kind of my crack… i don’t smoke, i’ve just started drinking a little wine..the internet is my drug of choice, so I know what is the best vape pen 2017 but i won’t ever use it, personally – i find surfing (the web) incredibly soothing.
basically i live my life the same way (figuratively speaking) everyone else lives theirs…
i’ve gotten into baking/cooking more because (as i’ve said in the past) alexis has shown me that it is just as easy, more healthful, oddly entertaining, rather calming, etc. to cook and bake…and i feel excited that i have actually learned how to follow a recipe! before i did the show 2.5 years ago i could only bake with a mix and cooking meant open jar and pour on pasta (or open freezer and put in toaster!) obviously i’m exaggerating- i could always scramble eggs, boil water and make a mean sandwich.
this blog is meant to reflect whatever i am doing at the moment- and right now i am answering commenter liz… and anyone else who was wondering the same thing.
i’ll put up pictures of black and white cookies tomorrow.
xoxoxo

Hey, I enjoy your blog no matter what you are doing. I don’t have kids so I can only imagine how busy your life is w/2 kids and working PLUS the blog (which is a bonus for the Whatever fans).
If we don’t like it we don’t have to read it:-)

I love the baking/cooking pictures.
However, the gym pictures could be fun -one vote for those.
The doctor pix – kind of gross…I still cannot get that picture of that thing on your vocal cord out of my head.

Have you guys ever thought of doing your show from a remote location, ie a fashion or food show. Also, are you planning to be at any locations or doing any appearances anytime soon? thanks,MMR

Waaaaay to much time and effort wasted on Liz.

I am a mom of sports kids too! I bake when I get a chance too. My kids (9, 10, 15) love to bake so they get into the kitchen and I supervise from the bar stool. They love it! Sometimes I have to kick them out so I can make some homemade candy or fancy cookies, etc.! I have been a stay home mom for 3 months now… and I love it but there is sooo much to do! I love your show, listen everyday!

It is great to hear that celebrities like yourself do normal stuff like we do. 😀
I too, have just started to do more cooking and baking, thanks to Everydayfood on Sirius radio. I love your show – and thank you so much for sharing your life with us.
guess what says
wasn’t wondering what you were doing. to much info, why would you care about one person. just open your diary next time and post it. stop being so sensitive. you can hand it out to paul, but you can’t take it. i know you can put people down wih the phrase “i can because i am fat”, not a very good excuse you are in fact cruel sometimes to him and others

I, for one, enjoy the baking blogs! I hadn’t made more than brownies from a box until I stumbled upon the Whatever Radio website around Thanksgiving, and now I’m baking treats several times a week for my work friends, the campaign I volunteer on (go Obama!), and– oh yeah– my boyfriend, who scarfs down everything I make unless I get it out of the house ASAP. It’s so relaxing for me after I get home from one of my two jobs to just spend a little time being creative in the kitchen. So I guess what I’m saying is, thanks for the inspiration!

Nice of you to give us a glimpse into your life. Just curious, do you notice gas prices when you fill-up your car? And about the stock pot, does food really taste better in a $259.99 stock as opposed to a $50.00 dollar pot. I know the quality is better, but is the food? Do things like to impending recession really concern you? I enjoy your blog and your show, you are constantly improving. You’ll get the hang of cooking just as I have, you can enjoy some of my recipes on the BB.

You can listen to the show online. Sirius offers “Try It Now, Free For 3 Days” https://www.sirius.com/siriusinternetradio

Jen – people like Liz must be new. Don’t they know you only started baking recently and you’ve done plenty of other things? Don’t they know you love Rosie and love to sing and are very busy with your kids? For crying out loud people are something else.
Doesn’t that girl from Australia know that she can subscribe to Sirius and listen online? Anyone in the World could do that.
Liz says
Thank you Deaanna S!!!! Yes I am new to this blog, and only know Jennifer from Martha’s show!!!! I meant nothing mean about the question. Actually, it’s nice seeing Jen cook and bake. I am a mother too,3 and 11, it’s nice seeing someone famous doing the same things that I am doing…..only been reading this blog a couple of weeks, so I knew nothing about Jen trying new recipes, and really getting into cooking…..but thank you Jennifer for taking your time to answer my question, it was such a long answer, and really made me smile, knowing that you are really a lot like me! Keep baking!!! Liz

Just wanted to say that I love the blogs about your cooking and baking! After I started listening to the show, I actually baked a cake that didn’t require boxed mix! Honestly, I didn’t know that it could be done (ha!) by a mom like me! Keep doing what you’re doing — and keep posting the cooking/baking photos and commentary! Love you guys!

You know what it is? It’s that people enjoy seeing pictures of people – not just things – and because we’re so into your show, we would like to see photos of you and Alexis sometimes on your blogs. Not just your food. t’s so exciting to see a post with Alexis’ picture or yours. …I am happy you’ve found a new creative outlet – in fact, since listening to your show, I’ve started cooking as well – but you two are really interesting and cute, and well, we just like seeing pictures of you! That’s all. 🙂
