hi everyone!
i spent an hour and a half at walmart trying to fulfill my soldier’s list… that store is completely OVERWHELMING…geez. (and to everyone who keeps asking why i went to walmart- it was close to where i was and had everything…i know target is better but i was most concerned with getting it done!)
so far all i’ve got to show is my cart:
i have no idea how to wrap/ship it yet but i will follow anysoldier’s instructions.
it felt really good shopping for someone who really needs something.
xoxo

Although I think its a really nice thing that you’re doing (I am doing the same thanks to Alexis’ suggestion), I really wish you wouldn’t shop at Walmart. Walmart is known for exploiting its workers.
Emmy says
Jennifer, on the evil company scale, Target is much less offensive as Walmart! Not even for charity would I give them a dollar of my business. It’s too bad Container Store doesn’t sell Folgers and Carmex! Love this anysoldier project!
Kristen says
Jen, I LOVE that you guys are doing this and it has totally inspired me to do the same BUT….PLS don’t support Wal-mart! Go to Target, Costco, or anywhere else. Walmart is EVIL!!
Rheanna says
Way to go!! Wal-Mart is its own species…I hate that place!
Ariel (again!) says
Good job, Jennifer! Happy Asian New Year to all the Asian listeners!
Kevin says
Wal-Mart? How about K-Mart! Target! NOT Wal-mart!
JenniferM says
Jennifer I think it’s great that you want to send stuff to the troops but wal-mart is gross. Target is so much better, JMO.
Laura in Arkansas says
You mean Wal-mart has taken over Long Island too? Holy shit, it’s true – America is being over run by terrorists from coast to coast. They took a corporate bulldozer and leveled nearly every family owned business down I-40 then took their monster cross country and ate the rest of America. Oh yeah, the monster’s name is Super Center if I failed to mention that. But great job on that package for the troops there Jennifer – almost forgot what this blog was about – you said Wal-mart and it triggered a seizure, sorry.
jen says
um, why are you shopping at walmart?
(since everyone else asked this you must answer it)
msl says
please don’t shop at Wal-mart. Support your locally owned businesses. The mom and pop shops are being squeezed to death as Wal-mart has set out to do They are destroying our local economies.
Raquel says
and I think Wal-Mart (wal-Fart) is contributing to the slobification of America!
Kristen says
Thanks for explaining the Walmart trip BUT I personally drive out of my way to avoid that place at all costs. Stop supporting China and worker exploitation. My 2 cents….
sue in small town U.S.A. says
jen…we know your heart was in the right place…and with kids…it’s a wonder you found the time…[do you feel a BUT coming]….but…please don’t go to wal-mart. It’s sad what they have done to small town America.
Nick says
How many of YOU know-it-alls sent a package to the troops? Geez, get a life, she’ll shop where she wants to shop.
pj says
walmart is horrible! how can you stand that place for 1 1/2 hours!?!? they scream over the loud speakers constantly! i hate that store.
April says
Geez people leave her alone! She is doing something GREAT for someone that should be enough!!! My goodness!
cook kaveman says
the store does not matter it the thought. any armed service person need the support you know the nat. guard was ment to guard the us not fight a venda for stupid anyway THANK YOU from the troops. and it is fun and if one knows one of and they do come they REMEMBER and they know they were not forgoten in this stupid war JEN tell Alexis i love her even though she hates me K
Mar says
Wow, can someone interpret what cook kaveman said? No idea. Anyway, Nick and April, I’m actually sending a package thanks to Alexis’ suggestion, and I think what Jennifer is doing is great too. I simply suggested that she shop somewhere else. Shopping somewhere else will be a good thing both for the troops and for the little stores Wal-Mart is killing.
Rachel says
Boy, this gives new meaning to “no good deed goes unpunished!” Jennifer, you are a lovely person with a big, heart who is just trying to give back. I praise you for your efforts. Yes, in a perfect world you would have gone somewhere else, but really people, giving her flack for where she shopped for our devoted soldiers? Shame.
msl says
Sorry Jenifer – I was so worked up over the Wal-Mart thing that I neglected to mention that it is really sweet of you to be actually sending something to the troops. We all mean well, but you are one of the few that has actually taken action and are really sending something. You have a good heart and your intentions were in the right place – what you’ve done certainly makes up for where it was purchased.
Kris says
OK seriously Jennifer. Take a stand. You’re sending soldiers in harms way stuff they need by putting money in the pockets of a place like Wal-Mart. They are a horrible company. They sell guns, exploit their workers in awfuls ways from health care to discriminatory practices that they are continually in lawsuits about. C’mon, don’t be lazy. Drag your ass to Costco and go nuts at a co that cares about their community and most importantly about their workers.
ksw says
you are still loved….you’re about the age of my daughter and remind me of her.
ro says
Wow, leave her alone. She’s doing her best to sent a package with essentials to someone that risk his/her life every single minute. And all you people are worrying about is where is she buying the supplies. Instead why don’t you go a sent a package and stop giving Jennifer a hard time about it.
Michele says
who cares where she bought it!! You think anyone who gets all those goodies are gonna turn it away because it came from walmart and not target?? get a grip people..it’s the thought that is going into it!!!
April says
Don’t be lazy and goto Costco?? Get your Ass of the computer and send a package instead of nit picking where she bought her stuff! What a JOKE!
kris says
Props to Jen for doing something. Anything of course to make a soldier’s day better. However, why put money in the pocket of a company who screws families. Jennifer has two things that make it VERY possible to support a business that is doing the right things instead of a business like wal-mart. TIME AND MONEY. Of course it’s not the end of the world but it’s just a little something you can do to make the world better. And Ro, please don’t assume I haven’t sent a VERY important package to IRAQ already. Someone I love!!!!!!!
ro says
good for you Kris. most of us have somenone we love over there. and for me it is not only about sending a package to someone we love but to someone who might not be expecting one.
Boston Bean says
Jenny, please undertand that it’s the STORE we all hate, not you…
Lynette in Michigan says
Great job Jenn!!! Alexis box is pretty but too fancy. Yours will be devoured. I know, my husband is on tour #3 in Iraq. Your box is sensible.
Kudos!
Harry says
no soldier will ever use Splenda!
Dianne says
I will definitely send a package sometime soon. I remember when my friend in IL was sending a package and was looking for a certain kind of sardine for her soldier. I went to my local Big Lots and there they were.
Are you letting Alexis so the wrapping part? ; ) Heck, I’ would!
Deanna S says
Boston Bean is right = it’s not you at all. I get scared at Wal-mart because for example once this lady kept getting so close to me in the isles and then again when I checked out I felt like she was trying to pick my pocket me. I’ve heard how gang fights break out in parking lots of Wal-Marts all over the country so that kind of scares me. Unfortunately I’ve had to go there a few times just because they were the only close place that carried what I needed. At Michael’s I can only get these teeny little craft paints for the same price I can get HUGE bottles of the same paints at Wal-Mart! I feel shame and guilt for shopping there but sometimes you don’t have much choice.
Jennifer says
I work at Wal-Mart it is..EVIL..
Take if from me, shop at Target..
