if so i am completely envious!
hi everyone!
on friday’s show we decided this weekend i would work with yeast…..omg…working with yeast is so involved!
here is what i made over the past couple of days…
cinnamon buns, bread pudding (i did not make this bread from scratch!) and 5 different pizzas (pizzas were for tonight).
how many calories does one burn when standing in a kitchen for two days straight?
cinnamon buns….i found a recipe online when i searched for cinnabon clone – i made these thinking my mom would like them.
here is the yeast i used.
closeup of the thermometer- the milk had to be 115 degrees.
milk and yeast- bubbles means yeast is active!
butter, eggs, yeast and milk.
dry ingredients.
dough coming together.
switched to dough hook attachment.
now dough is ready to rise.
it has risen for an hour and a half and is now doubled in size.
making the filling from brown sugar, cinnamon and butter.
i rolled out the dough and filled it.
rolling up the dough.
rolled.
ready for baking.
out of the oven.
icing- cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar..ummm..yummm!
frosted….they were really good…but, unfortunately, my mother HATED them.
turns out, bunny no longer likes cinnamon…in fact she detests cinnamon… thing is i told her i was making CINNAMON buns and she forgot to mention her recent distaste! so her friends ate them, my kids ate them, my niece ate them, my husband ate them, and i ate one too….
feeling like i had to make something for my mom that she’d actually enjoy, i made her a bread pudding…
i combined eggs, sugar, butter, and a little milk and poured it over cubed challah. i got the recipe from a bakery near me- if he gives me the ok i’ll post it later-
and out of the oven.
my mother LOVED the bread pudding. phew!
i’ll post the pizza dough and pizzas later.
i had half a beer with grenadine- it’s a party day!
go giants.

Jennifer-In our house we have “Guilt Free Sunday”. It is one day we take for ourselves to do anything or absolutely nothing. Most Sunday’s I end up in bed with a book or two until dinner time. By Monday a.m. I’m totally recharged and ready to become a responsible adult again. Most of our friends and family know our little routine and stay clear of us on this day……we couldn’t be happier! Today the computer made it in bed with me..hence the blog post.
Screw Super Bowl... says

It all looks delicious. But since I’ve gained weight and no longer fit into my jeans, those most delicious foods are banned from my mouth and stomach. Have any salads to show? Amy

I’m with Bunny, I hate cinnamon too! (And I thought I was the only one.) Though I can appreciate your efforts though – everything looked great!

GIANTS WON!!! The puppy bowl sounds like something losers would watch.
Ariel says
Leo, the real loser is the one who attacks others and isn’t man enough to come forward. And I’m not talking about your attacks on me.
Annette says
One of my 2008 goals is to also take on cooking with yeast – I’ve got 11 months to go!
Annette in CA says
The buns look so good. So beer with grenadine? what does that taste like?
The puppy bowl was so cute.
Dianne says
I love homemade cinnamon buns-called sticky buns here in Penna. Toss some raisin, cashews or walnuts in sometime-heaven!
Too bad your mom doesn’t like cinnamon anymore-it’s good for blood sugar levels. I’m glad she liked your bread pudding; I can’t remember the last time I had that.
I’m gonna let you borrow my ‘Domestic Goddess’ apron! : )

Jennifer your repertoire is getting bigger.
All the ones that live in a Super Tuesday state try to vote!! This is too important a race to sit out.
Christine says
This is so OVER!! You have now cause me to go meatless. Looking forward to veggies!
Sherrie says
How old are you? The Subway Series was in 2000.
Debra-Australia says
Never had a cinnamon bun before, I have saved the recipe to my favourites and will be having a go at baking them. Pizza’s look fabulous too.
Bipolar Christy says
I love it when Bunny calls-in! Please encourage her to do it more often…
Christine says
Hey, put raisins (about a cup) soak them first, so they’ll soften up. Also Vanilla, pinch of salt and 1/2 cup sugar, also make lemon sauce for those that like topppings.
Georgianna says
Jennifer, just curious, whatever happened to Weight Watchers? Those buns look yummy but they would have to be mega points!
