hi everyone!
we talked about this yesterday on the show…but for those who read the blog…what’s worse…the fact that eliot spitzer cheated on his wife or the fact that he broke the law….or is the combination what makes the situation extra upsetting. or is it that once again someone with oodles of opportunity effed it all up by being a stupid a-hole that makes the situation extra awful?
i know it’s naive but i am continually shocked by people’s behavior (even my own sometimes!)
ok. gotta go watch eliot spitzer speak….poor wife looks like she hasn’t eaten in days.

hi jen all I can say is what an idiot
Rebecca says
Stupid is what stupid does
Patricia says
I think it is especially upsetting, because as Attorney General and Governor, he fancied himself as “Mr. Clean” and he vowed to clean up Wall Street and prosecuted prostitution rings. He held himself to a higher standard.
miqzoe says
Whatever he did to his family should stay with his family and not be analyzed by anybody outside of it, out of respect for his wife and children. That being said, his breaking the law is the bigger issue, especially because of the way he has portrayed himself as “Mr. Clean”. Men AND women cheat all the time, so that comes as no shock, it’s the manner in which he chose to do it, i.e. breaking the law to the tune of $80,000 is what is most disgusting!!
Marlene says
I feel terrible for her and the embarrasement she is going through and the chinldren. I would never be the “good wife” and be able to stand next to that man again…But men think of it deferently because they do this all the time and it is forgotten until the next incident!
maura says
The most upsetting thing to me is that Spitzer’s wife is standing by him. Can we say Hillary Clinton?
MGE (to MAura) says
Let’s leave Silda out of this. How she choses to deal with this in public, for her own sake as well as that of her children, is her own business and, in my opinion, should not be subject to judgment or criticism from those who have not walked in her shoes.
Emmy says
The crime was bad. Check. The embarassment was bad. Check. Daddy is a creep at the kid’s school. Check. The potential to harm the spouse from unsafe sex…REALLY REALLY UNFORGIVEABLE.
Eric says
Spitzer effed up big time, that’s true. How the hell he thought he was going to get away with what he pursued others for doing is beyond me, though, I’m just a nobody in comparison, with neither the public presence nor private funding that he has/had. What is even more rich to me though is the Republicans threatening impeachment… Their effing a-hole president is screwing the country (he probably couldn’t get it up for a whore) up one side and down the other, everything he does is illegal, and mentioning impeachment of him is considered un-patriotic! Let’s be clear here, Spitzer isn’t murdering people, half-wit W is!
CleShe says
Honestly, I really don’t care. Yeah, he’s a hypocrite. So, he lost his job. Otherwise, it’s between him and his wife.
D'Aun says
Hope his wife take him to the CLEANERS!!! I feel bad for his kids, how embarrasing for them.
Connie G says
He is a man in a powerful position and used that power to his benefit not for the good of the people, my personal opinion, it’s becoming harder and harder to trust people like him. My question is, besides being removed from office, what else will he face? I feel if an average man would serve time for this, then he should too, I would imagine the other “woman” involved will face doing time, or will this be another case where the woman will be treated differently, after all she was just doing her job, right or wrong, that type of money, I can understand why people do it. If you a person who needs money for the necessities of like, food, shelter, and you see that you make that type of money doing that, I can understand that some would think “why not” money can be evil. Now we know what he used to think with.
Pam says
I think what is worse is…he was supposed to represent this person with such high morals and he judged others so harshly …when all along he himself was a dog! My heart goes out tohis wife and children! He can rot!
Jane M says
I am downright disgusted with “him”. I can’t look at him, I’m more upset for his wife and family. THEY SURELY DON’T DESERVE THIS. But for the wife to stand by her man in this hideously embarrassing situation makes me crazy. I just read the Times Op-Ed by McGreevey’s wife…I’m sorry, I do not agree with her. I don’t think standing by your husband will help the family situation at all! KICK THE SCHMUCK OUT AND MOVE ON!
Lisa says
It’s so hard not to judge… obviously he’s the lowest of the low. Hopefully his wife is just thinking about how she can best take care of herself and the kids. Maybe not freaking out and leaving her man’s side works best for her right now to stay sane for the kids. Hopefully none of us will ever be in her position and know firsthand what she is going thru.
kadie says
on cheating…when hubby is addicted to internet porn…cheating?
laura m. says
to MGE, well said.
J says
How can a woman be married to a man for as long as she has been and NOT honestly know or at least suspect her husband has enjoyed a Hooker on the side for a DECADE (or more?)
Come on… This was arranged – I mean, look at him… She was probably thrilled he got it elsewhere. She’s been content to spend his money, raise his children, be the socialite and be, “the wife” in name while not having to soil herself.
Don’t want your man to cheat… Be a better and more attentive and dare I say, Awake wife!
The hypocrisy on both sides of that marriage and this whole mess reeks!
laura m says
to J, so now you’re blaming the wife. you go schmuck!
jewel says
I am soooo tired of men and sex scandals. It is almost getting to the point where I would love to see more women in powerful postions simply because the chances of them ending up in some messy sex scandle is lower.
RN Jeff says
Spitzer’s and McGreevey’s wives knew all along about what was going on but chose to overlook it so they can enjoy the spotlight as well. Not saying either husband was right in what they did, they were both stupid cocks. I think Elliot’s wife should pick herself up, get a nice new pair of Louboutin strappy sandals, get her hair did, and start working the streets herself……
Former Intern Jamie says
I miss the girls and the show!!! But I had to leave a comment about the whole Spitzer scandal… I went to school with the “prostitute” in question. She’s in my yearbook and everything. Hah. It truly is a small, small world.
hnybn says
…Makes me so mad to see the wife standing behind her man and looking as though she is sooooo proud of her husband admitting his mistakes and apologizing for them. She is not sending the message to all women that she is strong and under control. Yes, she took a vow to stand by him in good times and in bad but I think if she should let him stand alone and face the music for the mistakes HE made.

AP says
This isn’t anything new…YAWN!
brenda says
some say prostitution is a victimless crime, his wife looked like a victim to me!
Jenny in Detroit says
Jennifer — you got it right. Spitzer’s behavior demonstrated that he clearly thought he was above the law. His ability to lead a double life while publicly portraying himself as the moral compass for the state of New York is simply the height of arrogance.
Mix power, money, ego and underlings who will jump to to your every beck and call and you’ve got a perfect recipe for greedy. Watch out for the aftertaste. Greedy packs a bitch of a payback.
maura says
What kind of example is Spitzer’s wife setting for her children by standing by him? Will they one day marry a man like Daddy and let him get away with cheating too? What kind of role model is she for her girls?
Dana says
Just as irritating as the fact that he is a cheating a*@ is how many people I’ve heard blaming the wife (not Silda specifically, but women in general) when men cheat. Dr. Laura was all over the TV the other day with her “opinion” basically saying if the woman treated her man “right” he wouldn’t cheat. Gee, ever think maybe the MAN wasn’t treating his WIFE right in the first place? If all he wants from her is to raise his children, keep his house, and have sex, without treating her with the love and respect she deserves, then it’s his own damn fault that she pulls away from him…
Sarah says
What upsets me is that he broke the law…not the actual act, there are far worse things people in power are doing (war cromes…) but someone in the position of power should not break the law. I completely agree with Jenny from Detroit, there comes a time when a line is crossed and action needs to be taken.
Dvegas says
I don’t understand why anyone is shocked by a politician patronizing prostitutes. After Ted Haggard, Mark Foley, and Larry Craig; is this really a shock to anyone? Politicians are FREAKS! Is it because he’s a Democrat? Or is it because he was having sex with women, that are the age of legal consent, in a private environment, and without any illegal drugs involved? I agree he’s a hypocritical A’hole. At least he wasn’t using his position to infringe on the rights of law abiding citizens. Save your outrage for those more deserving!
Ann says
Yeah – but Jen you must love the ring she has on her picture on My Space.
Shannon says
I just want to know how much of the cash did she get and how much did her pimp get???
RN Jeff says
Time to update the blog ladies, I have been looking at the titles, 2 overripe bannanas and oh eliot for what seems like eternity. I am back on the rag.
pk says
the man had it all. Great family, great job, great future and he blew it all for a few afternoon delights. If his marriage holds together I will be totally surprised..he has lost respect by millions.
Robin says
I believe the hypocricy of it all is what is maddening. Also, I do wish these men would tell their wives that they will handle it and stop having them standing out beside them looking beat up and betrayed.
???? says
so when do we find out what all he is into. was it just vanilla sex acts or what? where was the no condom made known? how come no more juicy details have come out?
