but i don’t plan to post the outrageously nasty ones for a while.

like the show or don’t. like the tv clip or don’t.
but overt and uncalled for nastiness? i just don’t want to deal with right now.
one day i hope to have a strong enough sense of self to not let those kinds of comments bother me.

I am glad you are not going to post every nasty comment…I wish you wouldn’t give the haters so much airtime either! Even when you were posting all the nasty stuff it seemed the majority of the blog comments were positive…focus on the good stuff. Besides, people should be able to come up with a more intelligent way to express their feelings than just name calling or lowblows. You guys rock!

Jennifer, I thought the TV clip was hysterical, I laughed right out loud! You and Alexis play beautifully off one another and when you put the ribbonms in your hair and Alexis looked up at you, it was perfect!

No need for people to be rude…they can listen to anything they want…if they are so negative they should in your words..SUCK IT!

Yeah, for all intents and purposes, I was cracking up watching the clip. I mean, CRACKING UP. People who write nasty comments have no lives. It all comes back to them. Don’t let it get to you.
I have this guy friend who is covered in tattoos. If he’s driving and gets honked at by some a-hole, his favorite thing to do is to blow them a kiss. It just throws the a-hole off. I think it’s such a good reaction.
It would be a pretty boring life if we didn’t judge/criticize and share our thoughts and observations with each other. Certainly it is understood that blogs rely on feedback to gauge their success and effectiveness. As with all forums, there are appropriate ways to convey your feedback and opinions. I see no benefit to post hostile messages of displaced anger, this aggression is not about you or your blog partner. I might also point out, in my opinion, the “oh my god you are a goddess of all things” is also kinda sad. Hero worship is also displaced adoration, and when you discover human traits you are deflated and feel betrayed. Maybe these are just two really intelligent interesting women who share things in an amusing and unique way??

My aunts and I have african violets and ferns and ivys all started originially from my great great grandmother. Same with peonies, lambs ear, many many bulbs, peach trees, apple trees, etc…. They are CHERISHED and every time you either clip a flower or enjoy fruit you think of them.
Great idea Jen, leave the haters off, enjoy what you have with your family, friends and career and ignore the losers.

I lost my dad a few years ago when he was only 55. You heal but you never stop missing them. Hope your healing begins soon and you can remember the good things and let the hospital memories fade….

Alexis was totally right yesterday, my 11 year old son was totally flamed a couple of weeks ago on youtube by a 20 year old. The guy was so mean and insulting it was crazy and it totally blew my son away. I said the same thing to him that it was only because this other person had no contact and never would, this kid lives in England. You guys are great and the clip is hysterical.
i will post MOST of the comments including negative ones..just not the ridiculously mean for no reason ones. it’s not that i cannot handle someone not liking me..let me rephrase that, even though it is really difficult for me to handle someone’s not liking me i am willing to post such a comment! it’s just when it is over the top and meant to cause pain that i don’t want to post it.

I have been wanting to write but just had time to check your blog this week.When i was 38 my mom passed away 18 years ago and I missed her so much for a long time and was lonely for her. But for about 17 years I feel her nearer and nearer to me with every day that goes by. You will too.
Do you have a pool? Do you have access to a pool? Do you swim in the pool? I think you should start swimming each day and just enjoy your pool time. And naps nothing wrong with a power nap. Also make sure your batteries are charged because your photos are great.
Jennifer – if people don’t like what you have to say or what you look like – they can turn off the radio or close the video on your web site – no one is forcing them to listen or watch – and didn’t their mother’s tell them that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything.

I think you are hurt by people making cutting remarks because you are a good person, you know you are, and cannot comprehend why these idiotic strangers waste their time and venom trying to hurt you. It is not logical thinking on their part, which I am sure you understand. We attorneys suffer from logical thinking overload.
There are lots of psychotic people out there who like no one, so taking it personally wastes your time, energy and emotions. As Alexis would say, they are bitter effs.
My Mother always says the best way to handle these type of people is to ignore them, it makes them crazy. Cut them out of your life. Life is too short to live it under a microscope and worry about the opinions of total strangers, who probably have miserable lives and enjoy venting their spleens.
They just live their lives to get them over with, pathetic creatures really.

Jennifer you should know that you are a wonderful person and you guys do a great show and make my drive home so enjoyable for me everyday – to hell with them.
Most of my friends don’t have Sirius so they aren’t familiar with your radio show but I have been spreading the word about the TV show and everyone thinks it sounds like a great idea.
Why is it we can hear 100 great things about ourselves, and then hear 1 bad thing and that is all we think about?? Jennifer, I’m thrilled about the new show. I liked the clip very much, and I’m upgrading my Dish Network to include Fine Living just for the show. It’s an awesome concept and I will TIVO every episode. Good for you for not posting the crap comments – there is no point.

Some blogging software allows moderators to de-vowel choice posts, leaving the nasty comments more or less… deflated. Serves the same purpose as simply not posting them, but is much more satisfying for the moderator, no doubt and far more bemusing for the readers.
You guys should get that!

People who post negative crap just suck. They can have an opinion, but I hate nasty. I think the show looks like fun. I know lots of people (even non Whatever listeners) who plan to tune in. I think it is a great idea and I love Martha and you guys so it should be fun.
Jennifer, let the naysayers be damned! There is something to be said about your joyous childlike spontaneity. It’s refreshing to see such a free spirit. (All the while going through your own personal tragedy.) Your willingness to give it a shot and then cut loose with the dance was priceless. Alexis is perfect as the adult, keeping the ribbon rose project as on track as is possible, interjecting her sharp & incisive remarks. I know that all of the shows have been taped and I hope that clip is a good indication of what’s to come.

Jennifer, I hope you never post the hateful comments. Even if you got to a point where you didn’t care (and you shouldn’t), I still don’t want to read them. When I first entered the blogosphere I struggled with the concept of censorship, but then I read on another blog: “hate mail will be cheerfully deleted.” or something to that effect, and I’ve felt better about ever since. If you post the hate mail, it just means the hater didn’t totally waste his/her time, and encourages them and others to do it again. The world DOES NOT need that!

Jennifer, my wife and I loved the clip and we both thought you looked very cute. Love the show. I often have to make a 3 hour plus drive in the afternoon between offices in Indiana and Kentucky and Alexis and you are what gets me through the drive with my humor intact.
