it’s a new month. doesn’t it feel like a new beginning?!
here are a few goals for this month.
1. i will TRY not to respond to nasty blog comments like the one about my mother embedded in the overwhelmingly KIND comments from my last blog post (see september blogs "another person touched by my mom bunny").
2. i will TRY to follow my weight watchers points. (i am so relieved to be back there!)
3. i will share ridiculous facebook and email messages i receive…like this one from christopher!
"Just, wanted you to know, that your not such, a bad looking lady.
not many jews with red hair but it looks good on you. nice thin face, good smile. I hear your show sometimes, when you girls don,t piss me off its good."
wow.
4. i will fight to have a positive outlook even when i am feeling down.

A new fan here…..Jennifer are too funny! I love the new ‘whatever martha’ show, it’s great! I love how you and Martha banter back and forth. We would have been great friends as kids, we have the same sense of humor!

I have lost 40 lbs on WW so far…although its taken awhile, its been worth the trouble. Counting points and working out are my keys to success. I dont even attend meetings anymore!

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved the show last night, I was cracking up watching you and Alexis!

If you don’t like honest responses to your blog posts, maybe you should stop using them every time you feel the need to go fishing for compliments or sympathy.

Congratulations on getting back with the WW program! I’ve been doing on it since May 12 and today I weighed in. I lost 2.8 lbs this week for a total of 22! I got my 10% keychain and another 10 lb ribbon. I love going to the meetings. WW is a lifestyle change and not a diet. I’ve had ups and downs and as with any change there are going to be setbacks. I don’t let it bother me. I even give myself a weekend every so often to eat foods I wouldn’t otherwise eat on the program. Hang in there! You definitely got a great set of goals.
Andrea says
Love the new outlook! And is it sad that I was thrilled last night when a new Whatever Martha was on? I watched Tuesdays and thought Wed. would be a rerun..but it was new! I need to start checking the guide. I freakin’ love it!

Love you Jen!

There’s a difference between honest responses and plain mean hearted nastiness. Plus, who said she wasn’t seeking honest responses? She posted your mean ass comment.
Kimball says
Jennifer, you really need to stop caring about the nasty blog comments. Honestly, the fact that you care is, as Alexis says, “insane.” You’re better than the nasty bloggers. Rise above it!
Sharon in FL says
You Go Girl! I am in the same boat weight wise. Working on it daily and doing the best I can. That’s all you can do. Glad to see you feeling a little better.
Bubbe says
NO!!! Don’t tell me I missed a “Whatever Martha” episode. I thought you were only on Tuesdays. This past Tues. was a repeat and even tho I enjoyed it, I thought it was a bit early to be running repeats. Are you on every night like Martha is? I will check the guide again. I love the show and laugh outloud everytime I see it.
Jennifer and Alexis, you have a chemistry that is wonderful to watch.
Happy New Year, Jennifer. It will be a good year for you, I know it.

Jennifer – the fact that so many people have stories to share about how your mother impacted their life is amazing and inspiring. Everyone should take her example and do for others – just because.

you have such beautiful red hair if you were ever to cut it I would donate it to locks of love the hair donation organization which makes human hair wigs for those that have lost their hair due to chemo. I had long hair had it cut spoke to the hair salon person and she was misinformed she said treated hair was not donate-able that is wrong tinted hair is acceptable I bet if you cut your hair and flat ironed it into a bob it would also look awesome. I think change is good I had long hair for the longest while but I had it styled and I like it short it is empowering to change your look at least it was for me how is Hazel Hutt has she met any new dog friends in the hood??? back to the hair you can always grow it back but a great stylist can work wonders also flat irons are amazing I just purchased one today and love it.

My wife is back on the WW plan. I am eating what she eats so I will be healthier too. I am off red meat and fats anyway. A good friend just went into the hospital he is 10 years younger. He had a stroke. I am even more wanting to reduce the cholesterol now. I was very high but still looked skinny. My weight hasn’t changed in 30 years until now. I lost 6 lbs on the unofficial WW plan so far but my bad cholesterol is down too. My friend had the main neck artery fully blocked. He had surgery yesterday and is in recovery today. That could have been me. He was thin too but ate the wrong stuff every day. So keep on the plan and get Keithy to just go with the same foods too. The same for your Dad but I think he is still eating healthy anyway. Say hi to him for me. Show and the TV how is great (except for one show where Alexis hair was a mess, I know the story of that one). One son was in NY at a R & R show last nite he was to be on Sirius tomorrow but it got moved. I told him to drop a note for me if he was. Well have fun. Watch Palin with a lite beer tonite and have a good laugh. Open mike friday is here again.
Dedra says
You rawk Jennifer!!!!! BTW, i look forward to Tuesday nights…the new tv show is awesome!
Lucy says
happy october! I think thoes are great goals!! number one is the best in my mind because you have to block all of thoes people out. Ther just jelous that you have a cool t.v. show AND talk show and have a faimly that loves you. For number four always remember it could be so much worse and let the emotions come out when they need to and if not focus your energy on what you love to do.
Molly and Holly says
I know you can do it!
Angie says
I heard once if you use “try” you are giving yourself an out “well… I TRIED”. You should be more positive “I WILL follow my weight watchers points”, ect.
Sheron says
Jenny: you are so so so cute.
I was looking at a bus in NYC this week and I saw a pretty pretty redhead on an ad. I thought maybe it was Whatever, martha being promoted. The girl was Debra Messing from Will & Grace. So I FINALLY realized: Jenny is like a totally cute, chunky, funky, plumpy, dumpy Grace.Grace is funny and anorexic (HATE HER!) and Jen’s her heavier DOUBLE. Thanks Jen for giving fat girls a positive role model: you’re married and you’re a TV and radio star even though you are full-figured and hide your curves (HELLO: YOU’VE HAD LIKE 7 KIDS!!). I am so inspired by your triumph and acceptance of being the opposite of stick-thin. Thank YOU. THANK YOU. Here’s hoping you get an award for your TV show. HOW do you cope with Alexis’s body dysmorphia (my therapist taught me that phrase!) HA HA.
Bernadette says
Yay!
you will be fine says
You will lose weight, you will have negative comments on your blog and facebook, remember you have put yourself out there in the public. now about the debate, you might have 4 more years of during sarah’s voice. I thought she did really really well.

Sheron- seek professional help . What an ass backwards way to compliment someone…
Jen- great goals – good luck!

Hey Jenn,
I love the show and am glad that you are so free with your feelings. Like I have said before i work in Oncology as an nurse, and October is national Breast cancer month. You have done so well after losing your mother. I know first hand how hard it is, but you are doing great! Please tell your listeners to please please do the monthly self exam. It is catching it before it gets bad that saves lives. I cannot stress enough for doing the exams and check ups. Early detection is what saves lives. I love the show and don’t let anyone try to knock you down. We love you!!!
Nick says
Nothing like a back handed compliment, eh?
don't listen to the idiots!!! says
You are talented, beautiful, strong, hilarious. YOur mom Bunny sounds like she was a GEM and not only that you are hilarious on the TV show. I watch every single one. They are hysterical!!! YOU ROCK< JEN!!! Liz in ORegon
Ariel says
You are not chunky and dumpy or even plumpy. Hmm. WTF. The email you got about not many jews having red hair was sad! Are there more people like “that” out there than normal people? Kind of scary. Didn’t like that Biden didn’t say he was for gay marriage. WTF is the difference? WHO CARES?! Marry whoever you want – make it work or get divorced like almost everyone. Wow, got off topic there! Love ya!
D says
I have to start doing my points again too! Isn’t it so much harder than it should be to get going again? Sometimes, I just don’t want to count what I am eating….but, I guess that’s why I currently have 15 lbs to lose…again!!! Have you seen the new “Fiber 1” poptarts…so yummy and not nearly as many points as regular poptarts. We can do it!!!
Ellen says
Sheron:
Are you kidding me. I can’t believe you called Jen a full-figure double Grace. When women are fighting their weight the last thing we need to hear is that we are from strangers!!!!!! Especially knowing Jen is alway trying to get in shape. WOW you really need to discuss this with your therapist!!!! How rude.
to sheron says
wtf? what a back-handed compliment. you suck…
Jules AZ says
Jennifer, I love and adore you!!! I always look forward to your shows and your blogs!
joann in chicago says
jen, i was laughing so hard watching you with those ribbons. hilarious. meanwhile, ignore all those negative people. they are jealous.
Danielle Bojic says
to sheron: you are extremely rude and uncooth. you need help. jennifer: go girl! you will/can do whatever you put your mind to!
Denise from Hilton Head Island says
You are terrific and beautiful. I get really tired of hearing you put yourself down all the time. We are not all toothpicks like Alexis.
Chrissy aka spoiledmom says
Jennifer, you are the BEST!
I love the tv show! I laugh my ass off each time. Keep it on TV, so I can watch again for a good laugh.
I loved your “dancing ribbon girl” routine and tying the bows in your hair while Alexis was trying to recreate the “ribbon roses”. OMG….I was f’n crying I was laughing so hard.
I want to see uneditied clips….LOL
P.s.
I need to work on my positive outlook even when I’m NOT down. LOL
However, tried and true: Relish (and pity) the rude ones, for they are the truly jealous and miserable.

Kim from Florida says
I joined WW almost three years ago. I hated the idea of walking into a meeting and was convinced I didn’t need the help. I went to my first meeting and listened to what was said, walked out and decided I didn’t need WW’s help. Two weeks later I went back 10 pounds heavier. It killed me to admit that I had issues with eating and that I needed help. Over the course of that first year I went from 230 pounds to 155 – 160 and have maintained that weight for the last two years. I love the WW program because it allows me the flexibility to eat wherever I want and whatever I want. During that first year I still ate out all the time, I just made healthier selections. I found that telling myself I couldn’t have something made me want it ten million times more than I really did. A lot of people, even WW members, think along the lines of what they can’t eat when in reality they can have whatever it is they want as long as they hold themselves accountable. My biggest shocker for comfort foods came with checking out the points value for the Denny’s slider meal… Three little burgers and some fries equaled over 50 points.
I think your goals are great.

How could anyone say anything bad about your mother? Sick people.

Jennifer,
please quit giving those jackasses so much power over you……they are obviously jealous and are just hateful mean hearted people.
you are lucky that you had a mama who loved you so very much. she will always be with you, heart and soul……it will get easier to get through a day without the sorrow that is ever consuming, really, it will…….you will get to the point where it will be only joy that you have when you are thinking of your mom. you will still miss her, that will always be there, but honey, it will get better…….i promise—i know personally!! =)
Lucille says
I lost 30 lbs on WW this year — you can do it!!! Seems like you’re feeling a bit better — good for you. And for all the nasty posts — F them.

WOW…BITTER MUCH? Ever heard of karma? I think someone is just a WEE bit jealous that they didn’t have a Bunny K. as a mom. DON’T HATE.

Jenn,
As I stated before, G*d love ya for having the stomach to deal with some of the cyber-wack jobs!
Here is something that is disturbing. My mother shared with me an email from my aunt in the Hampton’s regarding Obama. It was prefaced with “don’t show this to your son!” She stated that she would be damned if she will vote for a Shvartze! Ok, I am an adopted child and a black Jew and to hear that from a member of my own family really hurts!! My mother said that she lost all respect for her sister and gave her a verbal lashing! So, I know, to some extent, what you have to dael with when it comes to idiots! Keep you chin up and I hope you feel better!

Hi Jennifer, Love your show. I lost my sister in June after a wisdom tooth extraction that went bad. You should not be apologetic for your grief. It may take years to get over it, and as with me, you may never be the same. Take time to deal with your grief and take good care of yourself.
