My husband couldn’t drink more than a few sips of that stuff without throwing up. No way it was going down. Good luck and ask for the pills instead.
Bonnie says
There are pills you can take instead of that gross liquid. You still end up on the toilet for hours…
Coffeemaker says
Jennifer do you use whole beans and grind them fresh??? if so what brand?? 8 o clock has been rated very highly — i always bought it way before reading the article because it was the best price for me

i had a colonoscopy in september and my only advice to you is: don’t use toilet paper!!!! i found that out after it was way too late…needless to say, it gets a bit “raw” back there after numerous trips to the bathroom. i drank the liquid without any problem and i have no memory of the procedure (thanks to the drugs) so the worst part about it was that fact that i was soooooo sore! sorry to be so gross, but hopefully it’ll help—use baby wipes!

Good luck with the prep. That’s the worse part of the whole procedure. I was able to mix it with 7-up and it went down smooth. Just don’t think about it. Although I can’t drink 7-up to this day.

Hi Jenn: Good luck with the prep. Just be sure it isn’t the saline combo since that is very bad for the kidneys. You will be fine!
Andrea says
Drinking the stuff really isn’t THAT bad. Just guzzle it.
Rosie is wonderful. Right now can’t afford anything on her site (even for charity). Living in the Detroit area, not much extra here. Rosie’s doing a LOT to support Detroit and the auto industry though. Bless her heart, and thanks for the link Jen. Good luck with the procedure!

Glad to hear that you decided on the Bunn. I have tried many coffee makers and the Bunn is my all time favorite. Works fast and makes excellent coffee. Enjoy!

would love to purchase something from Rosie but lowest is 100 bucks..postcards were 50..now 100…I almost saved enough for one and price went up..so now I have to not buy it as I am on SS..cant do 100…maybe I can just make a donation to the place instead.
Hang in there…colonoscopy is important to do..as you know.I admire your openness in sharing it with us.
Angela from Ottawa says
Can’t you get put out for this. This is something I would want to be unconscious for on so many levels. Good luck
Nancy in AZ says
The prep is horrible. After the second wave of old-fishtank-water prep stuff I ended up vomiting. I ended up on the floor of the bathroom not sure which end to service. You won’t remember the actual colonoscopy but it’s the kind of ‘out’ that you can still be talking. Best of luck.

Trisha…You are a coward.Did your mother not teach you how to behave. Are you a child with no supervision.
Laura Winders says
Colonoscopy is NO big deal because you’re out for the entire procedure–nothing embarrassing or indelicate about it. The prep is unpleasant but you just do it, and be grateful that you are in a position to have it when so many can’t afford it. And remember, “clear liquids” can include a small glass of champagne.
It’s nice to take a warm bath during the endless hours when you’re prepping, because you can get a bit sore. The next day you have some gas, but the worst part is that you don’t lose any weight! After all that, you feel you should.

Colonsocopy:
Worst – prep (I did the gallon of go- litely – 8oz every 10 minutes)
Best – anesthesia. I have never felt so relaxed and HAPPY as when I awakened. Wish I could get some more of it, whatever it was !

Hey Jen,
make sure you get plenty of things to read.. The process is horrid. The stuff tastes nasty. Make sure you don’t sneeze.LOL. Good luck.

had to cancel sirius due to the economy…we took a $40K pay cut this year and these are the things we do to cope. i’m still reading your blogs though. just found out i have two recent colon cancer deaths in my family and my dad had pollops(sp?) so will have to have one of these fun tests within the next couple years (i’m 37). I hope all goes well for you!!!
chris says
i hope that you are drinking miralax instead of golightly. it makes a huge difference. and i hope they gave you some antinauseau pills. pop some extra laxatives to make you extra clean (had this test done a hell of a lot of times). good luck.

Hi Jennifer,
Glad you got your coffee pot. What I do is once my coffee is brewed is immediately pour the coffee into a thermos. This takes the coffee off the burner and keeps it from “cooking” potentially creating a burned taste. You can even put some in a smaller thermos and take it to work if you drink coffee at work. The thermos keeps the coffee hot and keeps the taste pretty fresh brewed. Good luck with your procedure.
