this endo/colonoscopy prep drink is so vile. SO VILE. i am 3/4 finished with first bottle. don’t know how i’ll finish it and the second one.

i finished the first bottle and it is (ahem) working already (and by working i me wow!) i’ll be shocked and amazed if i can get the other one down. oh and to the person who commented that i am "nothing like katie couric" because i am complaining/laughing about the prep… well… i’m ok with that! i like being me.

the stuff they made me drink was called “go lightly” it did not made me go lightly…the best is yet to come
They stopped using the product I had to drink they found had a horrible side effects. It either caused heart problems or something as bad. I was probably one of the last batch of ppl to use it. I had a very hard time finishing it. But the procedure is a whole lot easier

I did the “half lytely” drink. It was ok for like.. the first half of the half gallon. By the last 2 glasses I threw up some of it.. still worked..but in all of medical science we cant mask the taste of that?!? Really?!?!
I did this last month…you are right the prep is vile ..mine was Moviprep (where do they get those names!!.. Moviprep , Go Lightly) Hang in there.. it really will be OK and the procedure is a piece of cake. Felt great after and went out for breakfast.Hang in there! Did you chill the Mag Citrate? Makes it somewhat easier.

No matter what they tell you to do with it (chill or mix it with something), it still tastes like the bottom of a dirty, salty fish tank to me. I’m gagging with you!

Holy shit Jennifer…I can’t stop laughing.I watch your video twice and I cant stop laughing.The “sparkling”magnesiam citrate…omfg.I know exactly how vile that shit is as I have had to do many of those tests.I had my large intestine removed when I was a kid as it was full of polyps.I still have to go every two years to get the what they call in my case a “sigmoidoscopy” which goes much further up.So as much as I can sympathize with your agony I will be rolling on the floor in a full belly laugh as I watch your video one more time.Cant wait to hear the show on monday…
I just had this last week…two days before my birthday, nice! The moviprep…it sucks@ hope they told you that even AFTER the colonoscopy…that stuff doesn’t immediately wear off…I was still ‘evacuating’ the next day! Finally drank some pepto to counteract it!!!

hey Jen – have been through this god-awful experience twice…don’t worry if you don’t get it all down, they “prescribe” more than necessary, expecting that you won’t get it all down. The prep is truelly the worst of it.
I am dying laughing, as well as sympathetic dry heaving. It sucks for you guys, but I can’t wait to hear the show tomorrow.
Good for you for having the colonoscopy. I drank the same vile crap before a laproscopy for an ovarian cyst. It’s horrible. Some people say to chug it, but I had to sip it. It’s the only way I could not puke. TMI warning: my butt got so raw and I was so miserable.

Jennifer – Had my scope a couple of weeks ago. The test was nothing compared to the drink. Eat whatever you want after..in the written report the doc gave me an “excellent” for the colon prep. As if you have a choice! Those pills and the drink are pretty potent.
Good luck tomorrow — it’s a relief when everything’s done. The twilight drug is very good. No pain, no recall, no fuzzy wakeup.

I guess this is just too soon after I had to drink it to have patience for this. I drank mine right down to get it over with. It took about 5-6 hours before it started to work. My butt burned like…(well, you probably know), and I was in the bathroom off and on for about 12 hours. Next day I had to have a total abdominal hysterectomy because I found out I had cancer three weeks before that. I know you guys hate it when we bitch about your blog, and I usually don’t. I will just say this comment is my own little blog because I have to let it out, too, once in a while, especially because my surgery was just three weeks ago.
They do have pills now, I just can’t wait to hear you both tomorrow, mainly because you will still be fucked up, it will be a great show.

fucking hilarious. first, your doc is an ahole for not at least attempting to give you something for the nauseau. allergies or what not, they’re many meds out there. let him drink this shit. i want his name. i would dump him. second, mag citrate, blech. did he ever hear of miralax. it taste much better. i’m a rn, worked many years in ccu and had about 15 scopes, both ways each, done since the age of 21. so i can honestly say, your doc screwed you big time by giving you that crap (and coffee and coke, when the hell did that happen. i thought clears was clear colored like light tea or gingerale). some people can’t tolerate the prep, they get lots of laxatives and have a clear liquid diet for 2 days instead. my sis had colon cancer and she can’t tolerate that crap anymore so she does the above. you can still see everything. very funny image. u tube that one. oh, hip insurance, in new york, still prescribes go lightly. blecch.
my god, it’s not that bad. Just stop dwelling on it, drink it down and be done with it. Be glad it’s not an infusion of chemo, it’s just a prep for the love of God.
also, you can (could) have mixed the prep with 7-Up. It slides right down then and tastes better. I took the two pills and then only had a big gulp size glass. It was nothing.
Do you realize all the negativity that you emphasis on the prep for this very important procedure might cause someone not to have the procedure done who might actually have colon cancer. And early detection though the procedure may save their lives. Do you ever THINK! before you engage in conversation? Grow up. I only hope that your husband is much more of a father image for your children and teach them courage, strength and understanding. For it is only obvious they will not learn this from you.

when I had my colonoscopy my gastroenterologist gave me pills – no drinking that stuff for me! Can’t remember what they were called but they worked fine. The hard part’s over. Enjoy the drugs during the procedure – you earned it!

Jennifer, one thing I did learn about this procedure is have it done as early in the morning as possible, like being the first test of the day. OH! ds you need to go away like Mary did. What a miserable person you are!!!!!

You poor thing. I went through the same thing so I feel for you. My doctors said I had “the perfect colon”. Great compliment I suppose but it’s not like I can be on the cover of “Colon Monthly”.

Watched the video. You should have swollowed that stuff straight while holding your nose (you can’t “taste” if your nose is held close – really) and then immediately washed it down with straight root beer or Coke or something. It’s the only way people, seriously, drink that stuff while holding your nose!
Had one done last yr. Prep was awful but procedure wasn’t bad. Dr. told me “I’ll see you back in 5 yrs. for another one” Told him “NO you will not!!” Someone needs to make a pill

had colon. 2x’s. the first time that vile tasting stuff. then i heard there were pills, thought i would be a smart and have the pills well it turned out i had to take 12 every 2 hours. now i heard there is something even better.

keep with it the best things is it can save your life. like you my mom also died of colon cancer and i have the test every 3 years.
kids, in the big scheme of things – this isn’t that big. the prep is nasty, but, both my husband and I had the procedure without any meds. there was about 10 secs of excruciating pain. the rest – just unpleasant. without the meds you get off the table, leave, have lunch and go on with life. the whole thing is gross, but, trus me, you’ll survive.
