how recent is this picture? bc there were late 80’s early 90’s photos of her with hairy armpits. she got a lot of shit then. it is disgusting. but to each his own. men dont shave their disgusting hairy pits. alot of women – esp black women – dont shave their legs.

jennifer, that pic is super old. i think it’s from the ‘notting hill’ premiere. i remember reading that she had some kind of infection and couldn’t shave. no big deal.
I LOVE this photo, I’ve actually had it taped to the inside of my medicine cabinet along with some other ridiculous pics of celebrities (Sean Connery in a dress!) and they keep me smiling all the time. Celebrities can be just as wierd and awful looking as us regular types!

I’ve seen one like that in the 90’s too. It seemed more realistic than this, I’m not sure. But, hey, I like the fact that (if it’s genuine) she doesn’t give a crap. I could hang with a woman like that.
This was the premier of Notting Hill. I was in London at the time. Never heard anything about an infection.

To be honest, I don’t see what’s so gross about it. I mean, the fact that she f&cked another woman’s husband and then wore a t-shirt mocking the wife (ALOE Vera); that’s gross. But growing armpit hair…? I mean, it’s not the most gorgeous and it’s not my personal choice but I’m sure she bathed at least once/ day and the hair isn’t smelly or greasy or flea-ridden.
I guess in this day & age, there are so many things that I find truly offensive that some clean, natural armpit hair doesn’t bother me in the least.
I’d rather watch the crabs.

That’s gross. Men should shave their pits, too. Nobody has a problem with men shaving unsightly back hair – so why should there be a problem shaving pit hair, which smells? There should be a new norm established for it. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

I think this is an old pic–Notting Hill-premiere or some film from that era- I remember seeing it then and thinking YUK! She KNEW she was going to be photographed.
EWWWWWWWWWW! Come to think of it, I do remember her saying on Oprah, that she doesn’t believe in deodorant, so I guess the hairy pits go along with that? Not my cup of tea……
Why does it really matter if women have pit hair or not?
Women already have a difficult time, trying to live up to absurd Modern Standards of Beauty in western society. Obviously natural pits don’t appeal to everyone. However if it’s a choice between shaved pits & a shallow personality, I’ll take the all natural pits any day. Besides You can’t improve inner beauty, but pits can always be shaved.

I can’t stand “catty” women who’s claws are showing and wear a facial expression that displays a “I just swallowed a canary” smile. I loved Julia before she stole Vera’s man. Some women are SO full of themselves and steal, yes STEAL, what is not rightfully theirs. I THINK I may have opened a can of worms. There’s a name for women like that. Julia may APPEAR to have “it all” but her day will come. It’s inevitable.

I don’t think there is such thing as a woman “stealing” a man from another woman. The man goes willingly. The “other woman” never made any commitment to the wife – only the man did. It’s not as if he would otherwise have been a completely different (decent) man if only that “slut” Julia Roberts hadn’t come along….The “other” woman (or man) in a relationship might be pathetic in that she (or he) is interested in a relationship with someone who is deceiving his (or her) wife (or husband) but they aren’t “stealing” anything – the married party is doing the deceiving and is 100% culpable for the affair.

I read in a recent interview that she gave for Shape magazine that she doesn’t shave and she doesn’t get why people think it’s such a big deal.
