hair is colored! and yes, you can see the engagement ring on my finger (along with plain wedding band behind it- and before you post negative comments…enough people asked to see it on…which is why i didnt cut it out of the picture).
in response to some comments:
hazel hutt is a standard poodle. she is 4 years old and has been going gray for a long time. i do not plan to let MY hair go fully gray. no way! i would look HORRIBLE. some women can pull off the all gray look- i am NOT one of those women.
and, i LOVE that alexis is posting books to read on her blog! nothing better than a good book. feel free to share what you are reading too.
recently i read the (4 book) twilight series…not high brow on any level but a super fun read and made me remember how much i loved to read (i used to be an avid reader years ago…now, unfortunately, not so much). next up, little bee. and you all know how i feel about jennifer weiner’s books. (love!)

Have you seen Blood Diamond? Watch it and maybe you’ll have a different view on flashing a diamond around all the time.
Jane M says
BIG rock ya got there! My sister and I were contemplating going gray – since we’ve been gray for years – when I watched the 60 Minutes interview of Ben Bernanke. Almost plotzed when I learned he is only 54 years old – as I thought he was nearly 65! So we’re both NOT going gray for the moment!

Great picture love the ring.
Get your own life, Jennifer. says
Geez. Alexis has perfected the baking blog and she’s well on her way with the book thing. Can you possibly find something else to post about that doesn’t copy her or relate to your boring family and medical issues? Seriously…
Paula says
Get over it Julie, why are you even on this blog? I don’t understand the need to lob negative comments onto a happy-go-lucky blog – if you’re not a fan, visit another blog, or start your own freaking blog…otherwise shut it! Love the hair color Jennifer and the rings – both fabulous!
AP says
That is so funny u should say no neg comments, I was just about too, and stepped back to think about it for a min, came back & saw your mess!! I haven’t seen my engagement or band for all 2 years of my marriage, neither of us have to “wear” a band, we live in FL and it would probably get stuck on my fin, from humidity:)
sierra says
that is one huge diamond, beautiful! i like the setting.
Marcia, Marcia, Marcia says
Why can’t anyone recognize Jennifer for the super duper diamond-ring-bearing girl that she is? She’s always in the shadow of tall, blonde, gorgeous, Marc..Alexis.
amyrabuf says
Your hair looks great, but then again whenever I’ve seen you, your hair always looked great!!!Love the diamond. It looks beautiful on you. There’s nothing more that I love than a big fat diamond on a womans hand, just lovely. Amy
@Julie says
Big rock. Probably cost someone an arm and a leg, literally.
amyrabuf says
This is my second posting on Jennifer’s blog. Two things I have to say, 1) Julie what the hell is your effing problem. Jennifer’s diamond, nor did my diamond ring of 6 kts, cause the blood sheed in the war torn area of Africa that the movie was filmed in. Maybe you should see Blood Diamond a second time!!!! 2) Get Your Own Life, needs to do exactly that!! Maybe you can’t, and feel that you are so jealous of both Alexis and Jennifer that you have to dump your anger off here on their blogs. I know freedom of speech is in the constitution, but not freedom of meaness, hurtfulness and sheer stupidity that you seem to have. Take a look at your self before you start dishing out such hurtful words about ones life. I’m sure Jennifers life is very full so she does not have to copy anyone. Look who has a radio and TV show. Do you? Amy
lindalou says
Love the ring!!! It is really beatiful – I don’t know why people get so bothered by it. But I love the book reviews also and want to say to keep them coming. I always love recommendations for good books. I’ve purchased a couple of cookbooks that Alexis recommended and have totally enjoyed them.
lindsay from pittsburgh says
julie, eff yourself. us loyal readers of the blog & listeners of the show wanted to see the finished ring on her finger.
jennifer, your hair looks great, as does your ring.
Pam says
Just wanted to chip in a say that i love your blog and think that its great that you care enough about us fans to try and write whenever you can. People who dont care or dont agree with what you write should go elsewhere. No one cares about what negative things they have to say. Congrats on your ring and career. People who can’t understand that are just jealous. 🙂

If you like Jennifer Weiner’s books, you might like Marian Keyes. Loved Watermelon and Rachael’s Holiday.

can you tell us about the ring? carat? etc? i ask only out of interest and admiration
Karen in Mich says
OK I admit it…I am jealous of that ring. Thank you for posting the picture. Glad you don’t ride the subway..probably not safe with the ring on. It is beautiful!
Bridgette says
Some people are such A_Holes!!
Jennifer, You can’t please everyone so you’ve got to please yourself. I enjoy yours & Alexes’ blogs.
joann says
why are so many people so angry when they blog? To the angry people: INHALE and EXHALE and stop being so angry.
jana says
Whoa. Nice ring. I’m glad you modeled it as this pic does it justice. I see why the more modern setting works.
My grays go on vacation tomorrow-yea.
I just freakin’ hate them!
Rachel says
Love, love, love the ring. Don’t you feel so much better about yourself after you get your roots done. I know i do.
Please keep us up to date on the books that you read. We’d love to hear your opinion before we waste money on them.
MB says
I really like the new setting- very clean and modern! I started coloring my gray a couple of years ago (I decided I am much too vain for gray) so I can relate.
Christy says
I color my hair every 3 wks…I am 43….thank GOD for Loreal Dark Auburn…I refuse to gray gracefully!!!
No Dye Thanks says
Did you know that hair dye has been shown to increase your chances for bladder and blood cancer? I’ll take some grey over lymphoma any day.
Jennifer Foster says
Love the Twilight series! As a teacher, I encourage kids to read what they enjoy -all the time. Why not do the same as an adult? Twilight is entertaining and fun. 🙂 Reading should be fun, too, not just for information purposes.
Stefania says
I can’t believe the crappy comments from some of the readers I agree they should go elsewhere but they are obviously attracted to your blog so I think they should just shutup and read and enjoy like the rest of us. I think you are such fun and I personally love that you share the everyday stuff with us all …. it’s like chatting to another girlfriend – awesome!! Anyway just wanted to let you know I love to read and I rarely read heavy stuff usually “chick” literature there is a great Irish author Marion Keys her books are loads of fun – romance, sadness, friendship all the good stuff!! Totally recommend any of them….. Stefania.
Elisabeth says
Unrelated to your beautiful ring, but Jennifer, check out the book entitled, The Instinct Diet. I heard the author on another show on the Martha channel and am trying it– seems sensible, very well-researched and proven to work over the long haul….
Laj says
Your ring is beautiful. Did you see Katie Holmes on the cover of Glamour? Your old band could be converted that way for your right hand! It’s 3 bands in one? Check it out.
cappie says
Your red is too dark- you don’t want the Miami Beach grandma look
Add some highlights
Afterthought says
Hmm your Hunky Husband has a distinguished appearance
and exudes confidence. Tell me about the society double standards you feel constrained by please. I too color my hair I cut my really long hair and now have highlights I now want another change and now I think it is going shorter and stopping the tinting proces because I want to see what will happen truly.
maureenf says
we have a standard poodle too…her name is Coco and she too has been going gray for a long time too…people actually think she is older than she is because of the gray…I love the ring!…have a great day!
To 'Marcia, Marcia, Marcia' says
Thanks for that post. It is so relevant to Jen (Jan) and Alexis (Marcia). Funny.
To Those Who Need To Get A Life says
In case you don’t remember, Jennifer didn’t buy the original ring, it was given to her. Then she took said ring and had it reset instead of going out and buying a new one. Can you say recycle? I agree, the diamond industry is as bad as they come, and we need to think twice before we buy from certain sources, but we don’t need to slam everyone! It brings Jennifer happiness, and after what she’s been through this year, I think she deserves that…
Julie MN says
Flash the ring all you want!!! Who gives a flying f*ck what anyone says…about anything for that matter! Your hair looks fabulous! Hey…I have asked this before on the blog…I’d call in if I had SR…but…are you two going to make more “Whatever Martha” television shows?
Em says
Does everyone understand that a**holes like Julie make comments like that just to see the reaction of people? They “get off” on seeing people respond to their comments because it is a way for them to get attention and to be noticed. They have something negative going on in their lives and this is the only way to feel validated, wanted, cared about. Julie probably doesn’t really have an opinion about diamonds – and what do you want to bet that this is not the only forum that she is using to get responses….it is a classic case of need for attention. Our options are: we can all ignore it, a moderator can edit comments to avoid idiotic postings or we can indulge her and give her what she wants – a few moments of attention so that she can fill whatever need is causing her to do this in the first place.
Jennifer Weiner fan- says
Her early works were so great, but got seriously bored with the housewife and child-rearing stuff.
Jeremy says
I am currently listening to “The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid, a Memoir” by Bill Bryson. Very funny and entertaining 🙂

That is a beautiful ring!!
Dresden Disney-Dior says
“Oh. I see”, said the blind man. Jenn, I was one who didn’t like the new setting of your ring. I don’t know if it’s the way it was caught by the photographer, or what, but it IS gorgeous!
Lisa in Canada says
Triple LOVE your hair color, could you share what brand, number, color it is? I have a hard time to find a nice dark auburn that covers grey really well…luv you guys!
Linda Pitt says
Jennifer when don’t folks post negative stuff?
yaw always do right?
Sue/Indiana says
I am SO-O-O glad that crissy is gone!!! I never liked her buttin” in…..which she did, fairly often. She was always talking about going out for a drink….I also remember her talking about stealing things and laughing about it.
kris says
Where do you go for your color? I hate going gray too.
BRENDA says
Jen, Do you wear your wedding rings on your right hand instead of your left? Just curious! I agree, it is very beautiful.
Jo says
Wait, what? Chrissy is gone? I’ve been working too much over time. I have to say, I am sorta glad. She was such a sycophant.

Have you noticed that since this whole Banks/ Financial Fiasco, many people feel justified in saying nasty things to anyone with money? Well, Jennifer, I’ll never be able to afford a diamond the size of a quarter like yours, but I for one don’t begrudge you owning such a large and lovely ring.
Thank you for sharing the photo. No doubt you knew that some jealous readers would slam you for showing it in all it’s glory, but I was curious and — just as I had suspected — it looked even prettier on your hand than in the first photo you shared with us. You must be far more secure than I; I’d never be willing to show off something precious like a beautiful engagement ring if I knew that mean-spirited people hiding behind internet anonymity would snipe and it/ me.
I’m amused by those who rant about blodd diamonds. I assume that they give a huge percentage of their income to charity, spend their free time doing volunteer work and only by goods that were ethically traded at each stage…? Nah, didn’t think so.
Trisha Jones says
You have to read “Pretty Fat” by Jen Lancaster. She’s hilarious and the book is a super fun read. :))
Allison says
I agree with your Trisha…Jennifer you have to start the Jen Lancaster books. If you have not heard about her – her books are just HILARIOUS!! The first one is “Bitter is the New Black” – they are fun!
Cynthia in Colorado says
Jennifer, your ring is gorgeous! I love the setting! Thanks for sharing.

Books to read:
