OMG……….. I need a Kindle. I hate the dust that books leave behind……. I have never seen such a thing, so thanks for posting………
Penelope says
Thanks for the update. I’m reading Live, Love and Pray – not sure if that’s the order, but it’s by Elizabeth Gilbert….fantastic book!
amy says
“The Help” is fabulous and the audiobook version on ITunes is so great to listen too. One of the best recordings I’ve heard for books. Enjoy.
chris says
can’t afford the kindle but i love the feel and smell of a book. guess it’s the wave of the future with recycling, etc. gone star trek, have you?

I love my kindle but definitely miss turning the pages of a book-also going back and rereading certain sections is just not as easy on the kindle….but cant beat the convenience factor.
i LOVED sarah’s key although it is depressing. they are making a movie right now. did not like best friends forever but LOVED the help. try reading jonathan tropper’s latest….he wrote the book of joe which was awesome!

I’m halfway through The Help, and I love it! I have it on audiobook on my iPod, and it’s great to listen too, it’s very well-acted. But then I also like to see the words, and get through it a little faster, so my friend lent me the book. It’s our Book Club selection so I have to have it done by next week. I’m debating about getting a Kindle. Can’t imagine reading without the feel and smell of the actual book.
Emmy says
Read “The Help” too on Kindle. Such texture and richness in the story.
Also fun for vacation…”Bringing Home the Birkin” – which is a great story about the store Hermes and what people do to get certain products from the store. You would enjoy it!
andrea says
totally LOVED the help, one of my top 5 books of all time….hope you enjoy it too! thinking about getting the kindle, do you love it?
lisa says
I couldn’t put down The Help while on vaca this summer…. I read it in 3 days at the beach & pool…enjoy! Tell us what you think…

have the huggable hangers – great, especially the ones for kids. they sell them in target but ya can be a pig and go on hsn (tv shopping channel) and buy them there. they usually go on sale, like every other month, with free shipping. def worth it. clothes do not fall off. lady a tad bit annoying, though.
Heidi says
Best of luck with the huggable hangers. I think they are a ripoff. They break and the metal portion comes out. I’ll stick with my wooden hangers from Target. About the same price and much better looking.
rachel says
The book by Elizabeth Gilbert is Eat, Pray, love. Great book. I too can’t afford a kindle and also love the feel of a book especially library books. Thanks for the tip of The Help. I have a long dental appt coming up and that will definately pass the time.
Leigh says
How much do you love THE HELP? A friend of mine wrote it…her first novel. It’s #3 on NYT Best Seller’s list. That’s like winning bronze your first time at the olympics. So proud of her.
anne says
The Help is one of the best books I have ready in a LONG time. Hope you love it!
Jennifer says
I am currently reading Best Friends: Forver. So far, so good.
I just could not get into The Time Traveller’s wife.
Leslie says
I LOVED “The Time Traveler’s Wife”. I’ve read it twice. The movie stunk but I still have the book! I just read “The Help” for Book Club and LOVED it too….couldn’t put it down. It inspired me to re-read “To Kill a Mockingbird” which I thought was even better than I remember from High School!
BenG says
– thank goodness you blogged– I had no idea you were on vaca and I’m listening to old shows thinking OMG maybe you guys finally DID get fired! Please kick Pauly’s butt for not identifying this week’s shows as “the best of whatever…” ..all is now right with the world.
BigBob says
Thanks for the update hun. I knew I could count on you to blog – because you are on the ball – and aren’t one to pout!
Georgia says
Yay, a blog entry! That’s what we are here for after all! No brainer! You are awesome Jennifer. Ahemmmm
Julie-MN says
You are more than welcome to come over to my house and do some cleaning when you are finished with yours!!!! He he he
Dana says
I agree with previous posters that The Help is fantastic. Loved it. I listened to the autodiobook, and got so engrossed I had to be careful not to start speaking with a thick southern accent!
Megan says
I loved the time travlers wife but thought the ending stunk. Was anyone else a little dissapointed by the ending?
Ms Elso says
Love, love, love that you have a Kindle! Maybe you and Alexis should do a book club like Oprah!
Jan says
So glad I read your blog today..didn’t realize you were on vacation either, and when I was listening yesterday I heard Chrissy talking and I almost threw up thinking she was back. Phew.
Marlene says
Thanks for sharing Jennifer! go, go, go keep the momentum going. I am dissapointed you ladies are off this week, I heard Chrissy’s voice and thought I was going crazy!
Ms Elso says
Real Ms Elso here. Oh, I suppose I like, maybe not “love” that you have a Kindle as much as my clone does, although I have a Sony Reader that I like despite that it lacks some of Kindle’s functionality. I like it cuz it’s shiny metallic red. As for a book club “like Oprah,” I wouldn’t see the point in that, and barely see the point in Oprah for that matter. Anyway, just wrote Fine Living Network to request they make DVD’s of Whatever Martha available. Their site says that they don’t make DVD’s for their programming, but thought I’d suggest it anyway. I didn’t see WM among the shows available to view online either, so suggested that too. Enjoy vaca, family, and hangers – can’t wait til the new TV season. Gonna check out The Help per Jen’s and all the other recommendations here. Thanks.
Ms Elso says
Oh yeah and the contact page for Fine Living if anyone else wants to request DVDs or online shows: https://www.fineliving.com/fine/pac_ctnt/text/0,1663,FINE_1402_61665,00.html

Please keep us updated re. the hangers. I’ve been eyeing them for a while but have heard that they fall apart quickly. Let us know how you end up liking them, pls!
Denise says
I loved The Help. I was haunted by Sarah’s Key…. Could not get over the little boy who was locked in the closet by his sister. I’m reading The Story Sisters by Alice Hoffman. You might like this book. It takes place on Long Island and the plot includes some magical realism …. kind of reminded me of Twlight.
Julie says
Read all those books this summer – really great choices. I thought it was slightly optimistic at the end of Sarah”s key, hoping they might both be healed a little.
Is the kindle easy on your eyes?
JRT says
What’s the deal with the hangers? I dont think I would like anthing that folds up…….. Im a traditional white cheap plastic hanger fan
Sonja says
I have been muling over the hugable hangers. I see on HSN you can get other colors besides black, grey, and beige. I like blue. Anyway, did you also get the pants hangers or just the regular hangers for tops and such? I am thnking about giving the pants hangers a try first. Anyone out there try them? Glad to see the update. I love cleaning closets and kitchen cupboards. To the Real Ms Elso, I record the Whatever Martha shows and also Martha’s Show on my DVR, then I transfer the files over to a DVD burner. Sony makes several DVD burners. I have all Whatever Girls shows in my library. https://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665185948&SR=sony_search_seo&SQS=VRD Enjoy your vacation!
Yuko from Chicago says
Jennifer I hope you’re having a wonderful vacation…hanging with friends and family is great isn’t it???
Arlene says
The movie time traveler’s wife was AWFUL!
Kathy says
I agree – the Kindle is life changing for sure. I love mine so much that recently I tried reading a “regular” book that I’ve had on my shelf and ended up giving it to the library and getting the Kindle version because I just couldn’t stand holding a book! And, there is no turning back once you’ve turned a page by just pressing a button! I’m reading “The Help” on mine too and love it so far. Have a nice vacation!
Beth Leonard says
Happy Vacation Jennifer!! I miss you and Alexis so much. Hope you both are enjoying your time off.
PS- I LOVE Jennifer Weiner books!
