Yea. I don’t know how I feel about meds either. I think that you could TRY something else. A low dose if you really wanted. My coworker says when he would be stressed out he would sometimes take xanex 5 days in a row…I wasn’t aware you could take it over long periods of time? Are you supposed to? Can you? I don’ t know much about it as I have only had small doses of anxiety in my life on random occasions. But i think if not getting enough sleep is a serious problem for you, you could think about looking into something else.

I’ve considered meds, but what gets me is that I want to be able to fix things by my own accord, without relying on chemically altering my myself, if that makes sense.
I feel like it’s an unnecessary crutch for me personally, and I’d rather work solely on working through my anxiety issues without medication, because medication or not, those issues are there.
I totally understand however that some people are at the point where that crutch is necessary, because it’s what keeps them from having harmful thoughts, helping them to get out in the world that might otherwise be afraid to be a part of, allow them to cross a (physical, real) bridge so they can stay employed etc.
It’s all relative—you gotta do what works for you!
One thing they say about sleep issues, in terms of trying to relax enough to fall asleep, is to try to get yourself to treat and associate your bedroom with it’s real purpose: sleep and sex. That way, your bedroom mentally becomes this space of refuge and relaxation. Easier said than done, I’m sure, but I’m trying desperately to use my laptop at my small desk and not watch tv from the bed if I can help it.
I wish my insomnia would at least work in correlation with the livestream treadmill times! 😉
If you ever figure out something new that works for you, Jenny, please share!

“my mother used to need time in the morning to adjust to life. im the same way. which is terrifying!”
Do you find it harder to ‘adjust to life’ when the kiddies are in school? Does having them around, and the routine it creates ‘center’ you more?
