full and fat after a (not even that delicious) thanksgiving meal, we are all set for a relaxing friday- and by relaxing i mean we can chill after keith and i have exercised off part of last night’s overeating.
my kids, jacob (13) and raquel (11), keith, and i convene on our porch around 11am and here’s our discussion:
(i transcribed in real time!)
jacob: “let’s play the game of life”
jenny: ” you have no idea how lucky you are …your parents are present. we do practically nothing without you other than work.
we don’t go away without you. we watch tv with you. we are always here…”
keith: ” just tell him you don’t want to play”
jenny: “i was setting up my argument”
raquel: ” jacob I’m not playing life unless you buy me a new iphone case”
jacob: “ok, but it must cost less than $1”
keith: “raquel, you need to give up your iphone case obsession- obsessions like this are unhealthy and ridiculous. ”
raquel: “not gonna happen”
keith: “raquel, serial killers spend their lives obsessing about killing people and then end up killing people!”
jenny: “just say no to the iphone cases honey”
keith: “i was just setting up my argument”
10 minutes later:
xo

Now I feel so guilty for not spending enough time with my kids. It’s also pretty amazing that yourr son chose to hang with you instead of friends or be on the Xbox or computer! You’re a great mom!

dont feel guilty!!!! keith and i were discussing last night we should count our blessings that the kids still WANT to be with us.
13 and 11- wont be forever that they are glued. unless it is! and that would be awesome.
the fact that you think about spending time with your kids makes me think you’re probably with them plenty! we all try our best to do right by them. none of us do it perfectly…sometimes i question if i even do it adequately! but we all try! xo.
