Hi Jenn,
Boy it’s hard to figure out how to leave you a message that’s not too long! Haha Anyways, I’m the one who has 5 adopted children. I was reading your post about candy, a lot of it resonated with me because from reading what you wrote I often feel the same way. My question to you is how do you get through the days when you’re feeling down? I often feel like I’m not worth much, not validated or appreciated when it comes to my kids and family. Last year I had lost over 50lbs on the treadmill, within 5 months I was feeling great about myself, doing real good. The in the summer of 2010 I seem to have what felt like pulled a muscle in my shoulder. After many doctor visits, x-rays, ultra sounds and finally MRI’s I was diagnosed with Cervical Spine disease. The compression of the vertebra in the neck was causing severe pain in my left shoulder. I went on to have surgery last April to correct the bones, even a plate was added to help separate the nerves but unfortunately I have more damage from the disease. I feel lost in my life, I can no longer do the things that I love and often have given up on the things I can. My kids say I don’t laugh anymore and I cry a lot. I’m very sensitive to how I feel. My doctor has recently put me on Cymbalta but with the horrific side effects I had to stop. So, what should I do? How can I feel happy in my life again? I use to get so much joy in staying home raising my children but it seems so overwhelming nowadays. Ok, write me back if you can.
Love ya!!!

You have to take one day at a time and realize not everyday is going to be great. Be happy you have a family who cares about you because there are many who have none. Not sure about your medical situation but always be willing to go to different doctors and then press them for answers. Medicine is advancing every day and there might be a treatment out there that meets your needs. Doctors can be really callus so treat them as you would anyone else who is providing you a service you have paid a lot for. You need to step back be grateful for what you have. I would communicate your feelings to your family or a close friend. It does no good to bottle everything in. And most of all don’t feel sorry for yourself. I had the gratifying experience earlier this summer of working with a woman who was paraplegic. She struggled but was determined to do things for herself. I admire her greatly and it gives my motivation to look foward and not back. I hope you can find the same strength. Giving up should not be an option and whether you believe it or not the answer lies within you.

C’mon, Jenn… Where is the ‘almost’ nip slip? I thought I was going to see an asian guy walk on some ice.
-Disappointed.
