what a weekend it has been. my mother turned 65 today so my family spent the day (and evening) together.
in preparation for her birthday i made strawberry shortcake (s) - even though strawberries are not in season... i used alton brown's recipe from his baking book.
dry ingredients with the butter being grated into it.
dry ingredients with butter already incorporated and a well for the wet ingredients.
pouring in the wet ingredients.
forming the dough.
big blob of dough.
kids' cookie cutter.
it was a little bigger than it should've been.
ready for the oven.
out of the oven.
cut biscuits getting ready for assembling.
assembled! yummy. (keith put the droplets of strawberry syrup)
i videoblogged with my brother brian!
after all the sugar i ate today, i needed some vegetables! so i started washing and cutting up organic brussels sprouts- only to find they weren't so swell...
look at all those black/green spots!
i kid you not...the brussels sprouts were infested with bugs... what's the trick to washing them please? i was totally icked out.
now to showing my package- we are sending the soldiers some things they need- check it out on anysoldier.com. and for detailed directions please look at alexis' blog the week of january 19th- january 26th.
so....here is what i'm sending (not show: twin size flannel sheets):
health and beauty stuff.
games and dvds.
and keithy taping one of the three boxes (not sure if i need two or three!)
i will be finished with my soldier's package (hopefully) by tuesday...
the pictures you have been sending of your packages are really great!
