i cooked the neiman marcus chicken chili this weekend from the neiman marcus cookbook.
thanks to listen kerry mckay for scanning and sending the recipe to me!
it came out great!
here are the ingredients.
oops forgot the cheese!
and i finally purchased the blue cast iron pot from martha’s macy’s collection. LOVE IT! (the color is actually deeper- this picture is funky)
heating the olive oil.
sauteeing onions and garlic.
adding the spices.
and the beans.
now the broth.
after cooking for almost 2 hours, i added the chicken.
now it is almost done!
served at our friends’ house. forgot to garnish with cilantro!
our friends bought this weird apple called a grapple. looks normal but supposed to taste like grape juice- actually tasted gross like grape medicine (dimetapp!) and i don’t see the point in taking a delicious apple and infusing it with artificial flavors and chemicals! (my friends won’t buy them again- didn’t realize until seeing/reading that they were effed up apples!)
and so no one else would drink my seltzer, i decorated my bottle!
hope you had a fabulous super bowl sunday. we didn’t end up getting home till 9:30pm!!!!

Looks pretty good Jenny, but where is the fancy Blue enamel pot?
laurie says
It is NOT very tasty looking ,,, kind of bland looking but I imagine it tastes better than it looks.I never think white chili looks good.Looks rather anemic.I’m sure it tastes great though.
cappie says
Did you use canned beans?
kampmm says
So glad you liked it! I made gumbo and it turned out AWFUL (and I spent a fortune on the ingredients). Wish I had been at your party instead! (Kerry)
ds says
of course it’s from neiman marcus and gotta get that plug in for Martha – what’s that saying-don’t bite the hand….
Dawn says
Jennifer, I have a fabulous turkey chili recipe that has lots of beans and ground turkey…if you’d like the recipe! Super healthy and the best I’ve ever eaten!
Michael from Cleveland says
I think it looks good. I have a great receipe for turkey meatloaf that is delicious. We had a small Super Bowl get together and made a few dishes but my favorite is my fresh, chunky guacamole, I could eat it alone with a spoon.

Julie-MN says
I love that pot…wish I had one in Pink, or any color for that matter!! That chili looks fabulous! I think I will try that one. Thanks for the recipe!!!
Michael from Cleveland says
Ok so I just saw the Martha pot on Macys.com for $69.99. Why the hell did I buy Le Creuset last year for 3 times the price?? I think i’m the douche nozzel this time for wanting the supposed fancy brand.
kampmm says
To Michael from Cleveland: The turkey meatloaf recipe in the Neiman Marcus cookbook (sorry, DS) is fabu! Mmmm… wish I had a meatloaf sammie right now.

Love Jennifer but this entree is disgusting. Stick to your day job please.

Jennifer,
Check out Elizabeth Yarnell’s Glorious One Pot Meals. All the meals are done in the dutch oven, cooked at 450 degrees and are done in 45 minutes. She’s been on the Everyday Food radio show a couple of times.
I made the mexican chicken this weekend and it was very good.

Angel Chasse says
so is that seltzer like the “new york seltzer” we used to be able to get in Iowa, that is sweetened and comes in like vanilla, cherry.. like that?
Ginger says
Jennifer! Sorry you had to feel the wrath of Kathy Griffin. Just so you know she is not a well liked person, and not because of her act. She doesn’t keep friends and is just concerned about money and the way she looks. I have heard from people she is evil and she seems EVIL. I find her funny; but would never want to be near her. I’m sorry you had to go through that. Remember even though she was mean, you were able to keep you husband… so fuck her! Love the show!
Anna says
I have the same blue pot and have loved it from day one. What a great price too. I really hope it’s not true that it is being discontinued!!!
Joanna says
I made that soup recently too. It is not pretty to look at, but so tasty. The cilantro is a must so it doesn’t look so…. white.
KC says
your chili looks delicious
canned beans vs dried beans says
Jennifer, since you used canned beans you DO NOT have to cook the chili for 2 hours. Only if you use DRIED beans, as the recipe calls for (Dried great northen beans), should take 2 hours.
L pittsburgh Steelers champs 6 says
Thanks!
I do like the set..
I had a couple yellow ones but they got too FUNKY to use after a while..

Leslie in Seattle says
I have this same pot…I received a gift card for Christmas to Macy’s and knew just what I wanted to spend it on! I got a smoking deal on it and it is AWESOME! The pot is so great it made it worth it to suffer through Macy’s bad service! Oh, and the gift card helped too!
No perfume just Baby powder and lotion says
can not stand perfumey stuff
megan o says
not to harp on the issue but the cooks illustrated recipe is so yummy and it doesn’t have all that cheese (although I know that lots of gooey cheese is superbowl appropriate).
Shelly says
On the apples, I live in Wenatchee, Wa. Our little shithole of a town is also known as the Apple Capital of the World. The company that “manufactures” those apples is based here. They also make a “caramel apple” which tastes more like a booze infused apple. Not tasty.
Rod says
I think the grapple is a novelty food and I haul them out of Wenatchee back to Denver. Someone must enjoy them because I usually have a couple of pallets. They are expensive, so I opt for the free samples on the dock.
I did not go to Denny's says
I eat one English muffin with a
scrambled egg
LisaG says
I laughed so hard when I read your blog – I made the recipe too and I also forgot to add the cilantro garnish! It is still sitting in my fridge. And it really was delicious, and looked (and smelled) very appetizing in person. It was not bland at all, lots of yummy cumin and oregano and cayenne pepper.
Holy Shit says
Is there enough cheese on that chili? GAG
Kim says
White chili rocks – and this recipe is a lot easier than the one you tried – takes maybe 30 minutes from start to simmer!!! Healthy as well – from Eat, Shrink & Be Merry on Food Network Canada!!!
