What a great garden Jennifer. Love the composter. What is/are the plant(s) in photos 0048 and 0050? We just put up shade cloth over our garden so plants don’t fry in the 108 degree weather today – too hot, too soon.
Hi there. LOVE the garden pics. Is this on your property? Who does the upkeep? I’ve been spending all month of May with my dad in his garden. Same set-up. Where are the carrots and radishes? The lettuce and beets look the same size. Isn’t it great? ENJOY THE FRESH VEGGIES!
Wow, that is very impressive. Looks like a lot of hard work went into that garden. The pictures are great.
Beautiful….you are so lucky to have the space to do that!!
nice garden makes one feel healthy just looking at it.
WOW!!! The pics are amazing.. Enjoy the fresh veggies.
BTW you look wonderful. Keep it up.
It looks fantastic! David has really turned into a Martha Stewart gardener. You are very lucky that he has such a talent to share with the whole family. It’s wonderful!
Love the garden pics. Was wondering if you were planting this year as I was pulling the weeds in my garden.
I just realized that you sign off XXX. Triple X AAAA?? HA. Keep loving what you do.

Amazing. Your brother is to be congratulated. Hope your whole family enjoy the fruits of his labors.

Wow, I’m jealous!
Im jealous………. my favorite part is the little brick wall and steps in the front………… I love to garden but unfortunate both of my homes are surrouned by neighbors that are pesticide, herbacide obsessed, and other than a herb garden I fear for the contamination………….. what is it with people …………weeds and bugs wont kill you , but the poisons you spray on your lawns will………Ill take a little clover on the lawn over the chemical anyday……….
Wow, I’m jealous!
BEAUTIFUL!
“It’s a good thing” 😉
Do you mind asking your brother where he bought (or ordered) his raised garden bed frames from? They look very sturdy and was wondering if they could be ordered over the internet. Thanks!
Wow, it looks wonderful. Im so jealous, I planted a few pepper plants and they are already starting to wilt and my zucchini and yellow squash died from the heat here in Vegas. Very nice!
hi guys – thanks for all of the kind words – here are some answers to your posts:
Nancy in AZ: those are asparagus – in the first two years after they are planted, it’s not recommended to cut them – they root better over that period and will produce more asparagus over the 20+ year life of the plants.
JoAnn (Cat Woman) – we have different varieties of carrots growing in different beds. Radishes are growing under potatoes (since they grow and get picked quickly)! I plan the garden (start the seedlings in my basement and have help with maintenance) but it’s in Jennifer’s backyard – we live next to each other!
Marybeth – the raised beds were made using untreated 2 x 6 white cedar boards – you must make sure that they are untreated so that the chemicals don’t seep into the vegetables. They are constructed using a mortise and tenon joint (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortise_and_tenon).
Thanks, David
lovely – pics gave me a sense of happiness.
Artfully done slideshow Jennifer….perhaps a second/third career??
He needs to get some of that black plastic stuff to cover the grass with or else get on in there with a WEEDWACKER..
Just Sayin….
Gorgeous! Thanks for the inspiration. I’m totes stealing the terra-cotta pot label idea.
Lovely garden but it needs to be watered.
Awesome! I wish I had a David.
is this really davids’ garden or is he supervising all the real work?
Beautiful garden! The pics are great. Can’t wait to hear how all the fruits and veggies taste.
Hey jen, I remeber David doing the garden last year and in the beginning, there were posts and then it kind of went away. I hope to see more this year as it was fantastic and being a gardener myself , I love to see the pics! Best of luck 🙂
Awesome….trying m hand at a raised bed garden this year…so far we are loving it!
OMG, we think my Dad is crazy for growing his plants from seeds all winter in the basement. He has this whole set-up going. Two rooms dedicated to just the plants. It’s amazing. If you even TOUCH one of them he goes crazy. (He’s 78, these are his “babies”.) So good to hear this is how you do it. But I just love the whole process. The digging, the machines, planting, the sweat pouring off of me like my head is a faucet. The feeling of dirt in my hands. It’s the best. Then a shower and then an hour drive back to the city. But so much fun! Good for you. I can’t wait to tell him this.
Thanks David, for the hard work and Jen for sharing. This is what I needed to get my butt in gear and get my own raised beds going this year!! Thanks for the inspiration, it worked better than any of my “gardening” mags did this year!
Gorgeous. And big!!
